Jaguar Bass. To refute the JWs or any other organization using the ilk of David Icke as an expert or reliable source is akin to asking me to refute Einstein.
Just for clarification, I am an idiot about Einstein's theories.

i saw in a different post there was a discussion about jw's being linked to freemasons.
one poster replied that they were a mason and they know for sure there's no link.
that got me to thinking...i've never had any contact with an actual mason.

In order to be a Mason, you must be able to express belief in a creator. What that belief is or name you chose to use to describe such (Allah, Jehovah, Jesus, Purple spaghetti monster)doesn't matter. You also have to be a man of good reputation in the community. The overall creed of the Masons is to take good men and make them better.
The ritual and degrees contain lessons designed to do just that, emphasising devotion to family, to community, honesty and charity etc.
If one was to look at Masonry 100 years ago, it was a very influential body. Really if you wanted to be anyone or succeed in a community it was best to be a Mason. Today it is a shell of that. Now it is really a male social club that does good work. In Toronto and other large urban areas, interest and active participation is dying off.
Due to the Masonic path I have taken, I have 4 nights/month of obligatory meetings. Most Masons only commit to the one Lodge meeting per month. Now if work or family obligations interfere with attending those meetings it is understood and encouraged to take care of those interests first. Masonic obligations come in third after family and work. Financial obligations are next to nil. I pay $120 per year in membership fees. My support for any Lodge or regional activty is completely voluntary.
There are more 'christian belief' references as one progresses through the degrees (York and Scottish Rites) and references to Biblical stories but they are presented as stories not as source of dogma. I was a little uncomfortable about using the name Jehovah in one of the degrees but that is just a flashback to my time as a Witness. I've resisted and been uncomforatbale with that name ever since leaving the Borg.
This is just a brief over view but if you have specific questions PM me or continue this thread. Thanks for the questions.

I am not sure if it was my comments you were reading but I have never made it a secret here that I am a Mason.
Now some may disagree but I do consider myself fairly normal. I guess it depends on one's definition of normal.
I know there are a couple of others that post fairly often that are Masons. You'll find most Masons are just regular guys with an unusual interest in helping their community. The work done by the Shriners (must be a Mason to be a Shriner) is the most known. The charitable work done by each Lodge is lesser known. Our lodge supports a local abused women's shelter. No-one except the shelter director and financial officer knows of this financial support. The women are provided a Christmas dinner and presents for thei kids at the Lodge each year but to most that is all they receive from the local Masons. We also provide support to the widows of Masons. This is also done discreetly. There is more secrecy about our charitable acts than most of our ritual (it can all be found on the net).
I am pretty open about Masonry and my activities, so any questions you may have I am happy to address. I don't waste a lot of time with the conspiracy folks (no answer will ever be good enough) but I do understand those with a natural curiosity and do try to accommodate.

With my Father (4 years ago tomorrow - Friday February 13th) I promised him I would always take care of his wife and my little brother. That he can rest now and it will be okay.
I've had to say goodbye to a few but am glad to have had the chance to do so.

in today's job market that can pose certain challenges.
though i have plenty of industry experience to show, the research i've done shows regardless of what it is, employers look to what education history is listed.
Call it TMS Public Speaking - A group of people would get together and take turns giving presentations and would be given suggestions on improvbement, such as on illustrations, effective introductions. If questioned call it something similiar to "toastmasters."
There is no need to mention anythig about it being church based or religious in nature.

I dunno. If I found some cosmic hidden truth, I would be inclined to create websites, write books, yell from the rooftops about my discovery.
But then again I am not out on a weekend pass .....
