i was discussing with my motherinlaw last weekend the change in the 1995 "generation" doctrine, and got the usual response that it was a new light.
what started out as a little bit of fun during a long car journey actually turning into something quite sad and disturbing.
i argued that old light was obviously wrong (by their own definition), and therefore, by her reasoning she has been preaching lies.
JWS,
And what about people who reached certain beliefs before the WTS? Why are they apostates for believing what the WTS eventually came to believe anyway? If that "new light" is actually the truth, then is it possible Jehovah revealed these truths to them before the WTS? And should they still be condemned? If they were in-line with God all along, why were they shunned? The only ones they were not in-line with were the WTS.
Here is what a staunch Jw would say to the above quote: " These ones should still be condemned, because they 'ran ahead' and are 'out of step' with the Society. We have been instructed to follow the direction of the Faithful Slave in ALL matters, for they have been entrusted to supply us with 'Food at the PROPER time'. In keeping with the scriptural admonition to 'Keep the congregation clean', we would still avoid any contact with an individual who displays a spirit of independance by 'assuming' to interpret scripture for themselves, before Jehovah God, through His Faithful Slave, have chosen to reveal it. Such indepenent thinking is condemned in the Bible, and ones who practice such independance, and refuse to 'Wait on Jehovah' are most surely condemned as well".
-Actually, that is more like what a writer for the Watchtower would write in response, but my point is that it does'nt matter what any of us sheep destined for the earthly hope have to say, if the 'Slave Class' says it is so, it IS SO. After all, they are the Mouthpiece of Jehovah God himself. You people really need to get back "in step" with God's Organization.

AWESOME QUOTE:
the idea except for a scripture in Psalms, which, of course has nothing to do with prophetic Well of course the entire concept of new light is a load of Bull. Im not aware of any scriptural backing for interpretation. Its a slender verse around which a huge concept has been woven to excuse saying things in Gods authority which invariable fail to occur.
Good Stuff.
it has been mentioned on this board many times that the jehovahs' witnesses are a cult.. this connotation may not ring true with witnesses.
i have mentioned to certain ones that.
the witnesses fit the "definition" of a cult.
It has been mentioned on this board many times that the Jehovahs' Witnesses are a cult.
This connotation may not ring true with Witnesses. I have mentioned to certain ones that
the Witnesses fit the "definition" of a cult. He are the "defenses":
1) A cult is most often recognized by the fact it worship's a single person.
2) Unlike a cult ( ala Jim Jones) There are NO armed guards at the kingdom halls or assemblies to keep people IN. In fact you have to be really good to even be ALLOWED TO STAY.
COMMENTS: It doesn't make any difference what you CALL the witnesses:...cult, sect, etc.
most will deny they are a cult, because of what their PERCEPTION of what a cult is. While it
is true that the Witnesses will not physically restrain you, like other cults, if you try to leave,
the disfellowshipping "arrangement" ensures that they can take a nice parting shot at you
while you're walking out the door. Jim Jones style cult? NO....Cult according to Miriam
Webster? Yes.
Any Thoughts ?

it was reported today that islamic jihad and hamas have offered a truce in an attempt to push for peace in israel.
instead of accepting this, israel has declined it.
rather, they are prepared to continue targeting more innocent palestinians in the region.
I have never understood why the U.S. ALWAYS supports Israel in EVERYTHING.......You want to put an end to terrorism??????? Make friends with the Arabs....What's Israel gonna do?
Thanks,

another item for the ``things -you'll never -read-about -in -awake!
" category: check out the cover story of the june 30 time magazine, ``missionaries under cover," and compare it to the image of ``spiritually bankrupt" faithless christendom with its ``do-nothing parishoners," laziness and rampant immorality fostered by the narrow, self-centered watchtower world view.. no need to summarise the article here; suffice it to say that it demolishes the wt claims that they alone are fulfilling the command to preach the good news, that they have a monopoly on faith and courage in the face of death or that nobody but they are persecuted for those reasons.
All the JW'S will say if confronted with this is that THEY are the only only ones preaching the "GOOD" news. Christendom's so called "missionaries" are preaching Satans' lies, so they don't count.
