If you are inactive to maintain contact with witness family, you are still considered "bad association" so there is little difference than being disassociated or disfellowshiped. It may be a little easier for family to talk to you and have a meal with you, but you are still shunned to some extent.

Would You/Do You Remain As A JW "Technically"???
by minimus intechnically, since i am not df'd or dissasociated, i am considered by witnesses as an inactive jw.
i do not actively look to get df'd as i have family that are witnesses.
if i were ever df'd, then i'd deal.

Woman with a flat tire. Would you have stopped to help when you were a JW?
by ObservingTexan inin the light of the second greatest commandment, "love your neighbor as yourself", when you were an active jw would you have stopped to help in the following scenario?
you are in your car and drive by a woman who is having car trouble... a flat tire.
she's struggling to get the tire changed.

I have always stopped to help a female if she has broken down. As a witness or not. The only factor would be not having time to stop.
I can change a tire as just as well as any male can. I also have a AAA card if the problem is bigger than that.
I feel what comes around goes around.
However, I am not one to be taken advantage of either. But what does it cost to change a tire except time?

Tests done under age 18 are less accurate than those done as an adult.
FYI my IQ is the same as my weight.......

Do you still pray?
by undercover in(helps to put something in the subject line .
it's that time once again for yours truly to try to channel minimus and ask a pertinent question sure to spark a lot of interest and debate amongst the ex-jw community.
the question: do you still pray?.
-
jillbedford
Yes I do still pray. I pray differently now though. I pray for miracles of healing, where we didn't as JW's.
But I understand and can appreciate those of you who are bitter and have become atheists in your belief system. After the JW experience I can certainly understand. However, I am sure you still have a solid belief system, belief in yourself maybe? I hope you can respect my firm belief that there is a God who hears and responds to prayer. I too belief in myself but find this strength comes as a result of prayer.

Why do ex-JWs try so hard to uncover WTS dirt?
by Lady Lee infar too many times i have heard the accusation that all x-jws want to do is tear down the wts.
we scrounge around digging up every piece of information that we can that will put the wts in a bad light.
"they" being those who seek to defend the wts and forget the past because ... well it is the past and there is so much "new light".

Very interesting.
There is a true relief in telling the truth, admitting you did wrong, asking for forgiveness and being free to move forward. Yes, there are still reprocussions, but it opens the door.

My mouth was too smal so I had to have 8 healthy teeth removed and braces.
Also I had a really cool horseback riding accident in a race with a motorcycle. I won the race, but at the finish line my horse slid, my pulling so hard on the reins, and I slid off. She, the horse, stepped on my arm and broke it. I knew I would be in big trouble. I was told by my elder dad not to race the motor bikes. So I didn't say a word for two weeks. I was busted one Thursday evening, getting ready for the meeting, because I couldn't lift my arm to put my dress on. This one dress had tight sleeves. The doctor questioned my parents in regard to child abuse, but it was not the case at all. I was trying to avoid a paddling.
Guess that resetting of the bone, two weeks later, was the better alternative to a paddling?

A "place of security," i.e., a bomb shelter, in NY
by Nathan Natas inwe're all familiar with the bombshelter in san diego known as "beth shan," but did you know the original intent of the watchtower property in south lansing, ny?.

In 1974, my parents moved to a small town in the mountains of middle TN and had a bomb shelter in the yard.
This was a giant hole in the ground where my dad drove a unrepairable VW bug into the hole. The plan was to get in the car and pull covering over us while the Nazi's or whoever came to get us as Armageddon was coming in 1975.
The pioneer brother who sold his old VW to my dad said his car was litterally driven into the ground.
I used to go in there and play as a kid.

We don't actually own a dinner table.
I work 2nd shift so dinner, no joke is served at 1a.m. My daughter is asleep then, but my husband and I eat together, with no TV.
My daughter Cassie and I eat lunch together, when school is out as I go in at 3:30p.m.
Eating together is and has always been a venew for discussion.
As a witness, we always ate together as a family and almost always did a big Sunday afternoon dinner. As I write this, I wish for more of that......
