  i once made a remark about the hidden books of the bible.

  it was a lulu; kept people looking so hard for facts ... and for others it was a revelation.

  some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books were not capitalized.

  JW Soap Opera Update.....

  my mother informed me today that they disfellowshiped the po of my old hall, as well as the wife of one of the ministerial servants.

  you guessed it, they were having an affair.

  this came as no surprise to me because i always knew he was shady.

  were did church steeples come from?

  this always grossed me out in the org.

  do any of you remember being told the steeple on a church is a represenative of a mans penis?

  some sort of pagan symble.is there any proof of this or is the org.making this up to denounce churches.

  Picking the parts of the Bible that YOU want to follow

  many christians i've met like to pick and choose what parts of the bible they want to live by and ignore others.

  for example, i have a friend that goes to church every sunday, reads the bible to her daughter, and prays daily.

  at the same time, she lives with a man that she never plans on marrying.

  You are so right,many times i wondered at jw meetings (lond ago) and arguing with my husband on jw belief's i will say to him, ,,,, if you read the HOLE scripture through it has a different meaning then what they are taught.I tell him it's like reading the front , middle and back of a book and telling me what the story is .People do pick and choose what they want and feel it's in the bible.

  i just wanted to say thanks to all on this board,if i have a bad day i come and read some threads and just sit and laugh,some of you are so funny,if i need answers to any questions, you answer,if there is a debate going on i can't wait to read the next thread to see how it ends.you give me a reason to keep going everyday.simon ,i would also like to thank you ,if not for you this life saving sight and letting these people be themselves ,many of us would not be here to help others or ourselves.i hope all of you really realise how important you are and the help you have brought to so many.

  Is everyone bitter against JW's?

  i have to post this question, because as i was trying so hard to talk to my husband about what i am learning and what others are saying, he is saying i am not doing this objectively at all, and only hearing things from bitter exjw's who are angry at the org for something.

  i say this isn't true, i wasn't searching for answers due to a negative occurance in my life, and i don't believe everyone here was either.

  he says i am only emotional about this, and trying to find reasons to prove all the things i have learned as wrong.

  Insight into Death ?

  this is not intended to be a morbid post but because of the nature of the topic i guess it is anyway!

  have you ever heard of a long time terminally ill person who could live a few years more yet seem to know that they were going to die in the next couple of days?

  my grandfather called my cousin into his room a few years ago and told her that his funeral was happening before his eyes, he could see it, he died that night.. anyway, back to the original ?, have you heard of similar things?

  my grandmother kept having small strokes, so the dr. told her to go in for testing,an Angiogram, were they insert a wire in a major vein and inject dye to find the blockage.My mother who was with her said ,,my grandmother started to pray and just kept stareing at the ceiling .Half hour later she died.This was not a long drawn out illness but she knew she was dieing , according to my mother.
