How about Sister Singlemomohsopoor? Husband leaves her and children for whatever reason. She comes into THE TRUTH because she has no self-esteem. "Struggles" to raise her pale, sad-faced children in THE TRUTH, even though she can't hold down a decent job to feed or clothe them. Draws welfare, buys food with food stamps and cleans a few houses for extra pennies. Yet, she is a THEOCRATIC sister as she Auxiliary Pioneers while her children wear cast-offs from other sympathic families. Is in such good standing that she holds the Tuesday Night Book Study in her small hovel of an apartment, all of us cramming in there like sardines. Finds happiness spying on other JW's and reporting back to the elders at everyone else's wrong-doings.

Has anyone ever heard of a group called Eckankar? They're based out of Minnesota. There is a Vice President of the company I work for that's really into it. Passes out his tracts and stuff to new or seemingly impressionable employees <spooky>. As an employee of the H.R. department, it pisses me off and reminds me of the JW's. However, it's more of a "Scientology based" religion and the more money you pay the higher on the food chain you become. Check out the website. It's absolutely HYSTERICAL and when I want a good laugh, I log on: www.eckankar.com

More extreme witnesses
by freedom96 ina recent thread about "bad" music groups reminded me of when i was growing up.
my mom went through my record collection, and literally scratched with a nail all the "bad" songs on the record.
in some cases, i was lucky , fortunate to keep one or two songs on an album.. sure enough, years later, as a fan of music, i kept many old albums, and going through them i saw how many scratches were on the records.

When I was about 15 or 16, back in the 80's when all the "backward masking" crap was rearing it's ugly head, my mom went through my albums and threw away just about everything I owned. Led Zeppelin, Styx, Rush, Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks was a witch), etc. She threw it all in the dumpster behind the apartments we lived. Weird thing about it was is that I went back to look at all my albums the next day and they were all spread around the dumpster, even though my mom put them in a neat pile. My mom FREAKED and said it was demons that moved the albums around and that I should thank her for getting rid of them!!!!!!!

When I was a kid, I used to visit an aunt and a cousin who were also JW. They lived in this little town called Bellefontaine, OH. My aunt and her husband moved there because "the need was great". Anyway, my cousin had a sense of humor and when we went out in service, she purposely called on this one house because she wanted to show me the dirtiest house in the town. As I recall, it was pretty much the most disgusting piece of property I had ever seen. I also remember one of this woman's kids taking a DUMP right off the front porch while we were standing on her steps. I guess that's what HE felt about our presence, eh?

My husband (we were not married at the time) was in the Navy and lived in Charleston during Hugo. He could tell you the horror stories, i.e., no power, no water, etc. I visited him a year later and remember how shocked I was that they were STILL cleaning up the devastation.
I'm from Indianapolis, IN and remember the devastating tornadoes that hit around us in the 70's. Now live in Western Michigan and just deal with, and plow out of, frozen Lake Michigan, after a lake effect snow storm.

I got a tattoo on my right ankle (a tiger cub) last year and absolutely LOVE IT! I went with a friend that got hers on her lower back. Mine hurt worse than hers did BY FAR. It WAS painful, but, when you've been through childbirth, you can just about tolerate anything. I will say that the black outline hurt much worse than the color. Once the outline was done (mine took about 20 minutes) the color was a piece of cake.
Get one and enjoy!
Peace out!

Worldly Music to Avoid
by Nosferatu ini remember, one of the songs i was told was a bad song, was bridge over troubled water.
apparently, it's about drug use.
what are some of the "worldly" songs you were advised to quit listening to that seemed harmless?edited by - nosferatu on 16 january 2003 13:39:50.

Back in the 70's, when all the "backward masking" publicity was around, my mom took ALL my albums (Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac (steve nicks was a WITCH), Styx, AC/DC, etc.) and threw them in the dumpster. I'll bet she would be shocked that I replaced almost all of them in CD's just a few years later. Devil music!

Who joined another religion

I consider myself against all "organized religion". I believe a person can be close to God and Jesus without the "help" of a religion that claims to get you there faster.
Peace Out!

Hello, Waiting! I wasn't ALWAYS stuck up at Warren Central! Went to Arlington my first year of high school and was DEFINITELY the minority there! My mom and I moved between my freshman and sophomore year and I finished up at Warren.
I'm glad to see so many people from Indy posting here. I've been living in Western Michigan about 4 years now and miss the "big city"! Go Pacers!

Being stalked?
by Ghosthunter inafter calming down my two rowdy dogs, i kindly, but firmly, explained to these ladies that i had been df'd for almost 20 years and had no interest in talking to them.
they both smiled, invited me to the local kh and left very quickly.
the next week, a different car drove up in my driveway and two older men got out and i knew immediately that they were elders.

I wasn't being "ugly" to them at all. I was nice, but firm. My husband was not so nice after they showed up 3 weeks in a row.
And, no, I'm not new in town. We've been in this house for almost 4 years. We are approximately a mile from the closest KH. Before this latest "visit", they had maybe showed up twice in the last 3 years. I guess I made the mistake of telling them I was DF'd. They want to save me!!!!!
