  Yes, the only thing I can barely recall at Pittsburgh is Franz talking. He was always the one you hated to give the final part at the end of the day at any assembly.

  I clearly remember "back in the day" at Yankee Stadium when the sessions ended at 9PM in the evening that he would easily go on for an extra half hour or more. Once I remember, nearly 10PM. He would just talk and talk and talk. As a little kid at the time, it felt like torture.

  Anyway, I will find the old centennial brochure in one of the boxes of old stuff and put it here for all to see.

  JW.org greater than the Bible now

  there was a time when brooklyn bethel was emblazoned with the words; "read god's word the bible daily" but it seems to me now that even the bible has taken second place to jw.org.

  i remember having lots of studies using the 'truth' book.

  we asked the students in those days to prepare well and look up the scriptures in their own copy of the bible.

  There is such a dumbing down of JW's now, especially the young ones. If you put a real NWT in front of them and asked them to read a scripture from Ezra, Micah, Amos or some other smaller biblical books, they would have the "deer in the headlights" look on their faces.

  I mentioned that to one of our elders recently that the scripture of "handling the word of truth aright" is being ignored. All he could say was, "I guess if persecution comes, we may need solar chargers for the iPads."

  This is sad compared to what we had to know in the past.

  He [Chitty] often spoke at Gilead graduations, and was the concluding speaker for the day at the Watchtower Centennial business meeting at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 6, 1984.

  Wow ... I must be getting old.

  A relative of mine got tickets for me. I drove to Pittsburgh for the Centennial meeting and still have some of the brochures. I even went to the grave site of CT Russell and saw his pyramid gravestone.

  Wow ... that brings back many memories.

  Not training speakers/teachers any more?

  not having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.

  you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.

  i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

  Joe Biden and Push-up Contests

  in the past, the former vp has challenged trump to a push-up contest and today he did again , only this time to an 83 year old man who told biden that he thought he was too old to run for president.

  it appears biden called him fat and unlike the man he wasn’t sedentary.

  then he challenged the man to a push-up contest.

  You have to admit, the Dems could up with some interesting characters for VP. The last two were Biden and Al Gore, the guy who invented the internet ... lol.

  The Reps had Chaney who wanted to blow up the world and now Pence, a guy who would make a good department store mannequin.
