abel.
he loved cain, he took care of cain.
cain would fall into a lake and pretend he was drowning.
I think the Society has mentioned several times that Jealousy was the major issue. In light of the information provided in the Scriptures and the Society's publications, it seems to be the likely scenario.
I recall reading that while both were "living the good life" by contemporary standards, they likely became overweight.
We remember that Cain's offering to God was from the land; grains and vegetables. Obviously, he was a vegetarian and ate a diet high in carbohydrates and refined sugars.
Abel's offering was that of animals. He was a herdsman. He tended the sheep and other animals and had access to a lot of animal protein for food.
When both chose to go on a diet, Abel chose the high-fat Atkins diet and reduced his intake of carbohydrates. In keeping with dietary recommendations at the time, he likely developed a daily exercise plan.
However, Cain simply tried to reduce his portion size of carbohydrates including pasta and sugars. But he only stuck to his diet for a couple of weeks.
The result: Cain gained all his weight back and more. But Abel lost weight and lowered his cholesterol. Cain became very jealeous over Abel's losing weight and appearing more attractive to their sisters.
So Cain killed him.
I think we all can learn a powerful lession regarding jealously from the actions of Cain and Abel.

okay, i know that historical evidence is that jerusalem fell in 586/7 instead of 607 - as the wtbts would have.
however, that is not compelling enough to show a hypothetical jw.
they (generally) must not only be show that the opposition is correct, but that the wtbts is wrong.
Things definitely went awry after John wrote the book of Revelations and then later signed the Magna Carta.
History has never been the same since.

am i too thin-skinned or does anyone find that annual km insert dealing with the district assembly offensive???.
i mean, having to read and comment on those same things every year about not cooking in your hotel room, not to steal food if breakfast is offered, not to poop in the sinks, or whatever they say.
if you have to give those "reminders," it makes you wonder about the people you are sitting next to during the sessions.. *****rub a dub

i don't miss being spoken to like i was someones best friend when i know they wouldn't pee on me if i was on fire.. i don't miss always standing on my own and having no one come and talk to me.. i don't miss having people talk around me about the great time they had at the latest sport/barbecue/dinner get-together which i wasn't invited to because i'm not spiritual enough.. i don't miss not having friends in the truth or out of the truth because i shouldn't mix with wordly people.. i don't miss being so bored for all those hours a week.. i don't miss all the false smiles people give me when i look at them at the hall and the way they look away when i walk past them at the shopping center.. .................. anyone got anymore?
I don't miss the feeling of inadequecy that many of us experience in the borg.
The scripture so often read from the platform that anything we do "is what we should have done" is so overused. I know Paul never meant those words the way we hear them from the platform. Those words were meant to discourage ones boasting about themselves, not as a psychological tool to intimidate the flock.
It's always no matter how much we do, we should have done more. And having to listen to those obscure experiences about some 90 year sister in Upper Timbuctu that has one eye, in a wheel chair, has Hodgekins disease, yet pioneered last June, conducts 22 bible studies and travels through the jungle 3 hours to get to the meeting.
And then that look from the platform and the "are YOU wholesouled in YOUR service?"

there is an article at http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_30-1-2003_pg3_2.
belgium is the latest european country that has decided to phase out nuclear reactors.the others are germany, spain, sweden and the netherlands.
seven other countries austria, denmark, greece, ireland, italy, luxembourg and portugal have either abandoned nuclear power or never established programmes.. .
I feel that wind power is the energy choice of the future.
Wind is very flexible. Wind can be used to generate electricity, it can be passed and it can be broken.

the active jw's watching tv tonight will be surprised when they see themselves in the spotlight.
how do you think the average jw will react when watching the program?
will they think that it's all lies, or do you think they will believe a good part of it?
Were any comments made directly from the platform about the show in Canada ???

at the district convention, the highlight was always said to be the dramas.
did you really look forward to them?
was there one that ever stood out?
I admit I do like them. Compared to an hour symposium on keeping your car and house clean, at least the people move a little bit.

it's been a number of years since i've been to a district convention.
do they still have the preferred hotels list they distribute in january?
i remember how some would purposely leave the hall early that night so they could get home and call in their reservations before everyone else.
