I had a somewhat paranormal experience 2 days ago, but I think science is just light years behind on this.....
by Bad_Wolf infor the record i'm agnostic, never seen any direct evidence of spirits, afterlife, etc.
i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.
a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.

Will You Constantly Wear A Mask?
by minimus intoday, it will be 90 degrees and humid!
this morning i’ll be playing tennis again.
while most people have been holed up in their houses, i have regularly played the sport outside.

I see people alone in their cars, with their windows up, wearing a mask. That seems ridiculous.
@Queenpeg ...
If you want to hit up a liquor store, gas station or convenience store in broad daylight, wouldn't you want to wear a mask?
Be serious. There are cameras everywhere these days.

Politics Aside...
by wisdomfrombelow inthere seem to many seemingly political topics started in this section.
it's usually something controversial and not related to this subject area.
it would be nice to have this area reserved for it's appropriate subject.

@wisdomfrombelow ...
You must be a bit confused with the topics here. This is a current/ex JW site.
We refrain from politics and seek a spiritual approach to life's meaning and an holistic approach to ones inner self, spiritual awareness and health.
We try to unite our mental awareness in shared actions and beliefs.
I would not let a few of those here who try to divide us interfere with our inherent realities.

How have Jehovah`s Witnesses ever gotten away with being a Tax Exempt Religion ?
by smiddy3 ini can never get my head around this one ?
don`t the powers that be ever really investigate religions that claim exemption from paying taxes because they claim they are a not for profit religion ?.
you would have to be a brain dead imbecile not to see that the religion known as the" watchtower bible and tract society" otherwise known as "jehovah`s witnesses" are nothing more than a religious publishing house that have made x amount of $$$$$ over the years since their inception in the late 1800`s to this day.

If you boil down the thread, I think it would be: “WTB&TS hurts people
@MMMustard ...
You could argue that point about the WTBTS and virtually any other religion and for that matter, many other nonprofits. It's just if you are close to one and know the inner workings, you "see how the sausage is made."
Anony Mous is correct as you pointed out. Letting the government determine what is a "good" organization and what is not "good" just empowers them to make decisions; some we may like, others we may think are invasive.

A nonprofit business does not mean the business makes no profit.
What MMMustard said is totally correct. They essentially have to be "profitable" to remain in business.
I have had numerous nonprofits as clients and and trust me, they need to make money. Being a nonprofit in the USA is more legalistic than anything else. They have much the same business model and structure as anyone else but are supposedly operating for some "good" (Mission Statement) instead of distributing earnings to shareholders. From a practical standpoint, the term "good" can be argued to mean almost anything.
In the case of religious nonprofits, they get even more leeway since religion is mentioned in the Constitution. That's why is it so easy to legally set up your own religion and get tax-exempt status for next to nothing.

In 2020 In Your Country or State Are Race Relations Better or Worse Than Before?

there are still many people who think and act like him.

There has not been one. Obama is bi-racial. Whats not to understand?
silentbuddha ...
True. I still am wresting in my mind if Adam was black and Eve was white or the other way around. But then I still lose sleep when pondering which of the two was Hispanic.

Unfortunately, I truly believed having a first black President might make racial tensions better but I was wrong.
Min ...
In all seriousness, I don't think you were wrong, just the wrong person. Call me a RINO or whatever, but Gen. Colin Powell could have been, IMO, an excellent President. Supposedly his wife was afraid of assassination attempts and just wanted him to retire and live a "normal" life.
But in the event of a major international issue, I would much rather have Powell speaking into a camera telling the facts than those with, shall we say, protracted hanging down parts and don't know which end of a gun the bullet comes out of (Obama, Trump).
I guess I just respected Powell a lot. Just my opinion.

Generally race relations have, IMO, gotten better in 2020 and recent years.
Them people are finally learning to stay in their own part of town and keep to their own kind. Otherwise they'll be one less of 'em to worry about.

Field service national average - what do you think it is now?
by BourneIdentity init’s always been 10 hours when door to door was active.
i’m curious of how it’s changed with only letter writing and phone witnessing approved.. i’m curious if they are able to do it for 3 hours like a typical door to door morning.
i would be surprised.

Since March it must average little more than zero.
BluesBrother ...
No way the elders would allow that to happen. Remember, they have to report to the CO when he comes or Zooms in.
Remember, they can come up with a couple of hours for anyone for just talking to you and "confirming" that you have talked to others.
