  this account in numbers is really amazing.

  Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Enjoyed it. Here's a more in depth discussion of the social-economic backdrop of the Ancient Near East (ANE) and the laws in the bible that were designed to protect women.

  Women would not have had to be protected HAD MEN NOT REGARDED THEM AS PROPERTY - which, apparently, was AOK with Jehovah. Jehovah does not and never has appeared to care much for women. I used to think, "If you hate us so much and think we're so weak and inferior, why did you create us?"
  Now I no longer care what he thinks.

  as a lifelong dub, i was accustomed to hearing the word 'conservative' to describe our 'christian' thinking.

  indeed, liberal thoughts, ideas, customs, were certainly not acceptable in the niche where we dwelt.

  also, since the christian 'religious right' proclaims conservatism as it's parti pris, [and who was more 'christian' than jehovah's witnesses?

  Whoa there beryl....or are you still there....wouldn't God have smited you with a lightning bolt by now? or a flood? or fire from heaven? LMAO..........and yeah, dont make him angry! Why would he care a twit about anything we did enough to get angry anway? You probably just really yanked his chain though! ........oompa

  He hasn't and he won't. If there is a God, he should understand why a mere human such as myself would be hurt, angry and confused when I read of (ostensibly) God-approved mass murder. He'd expect us to get pissed off and upset by Jonestown-like stuff - but not at murdering little boys and babies? Please.

  None of it makes any sense. None whatsoever. I didn't accept this stuff when I was a JW and I refuse to now. At least NOW I can speak my mind; you'd better believe that when I was a JW I kept it shut.

  Perry: It was an expression of God's justice on a wicked people. -------------------- And, pray tell, how are little boys and baby boys wicked? And spare me the JW rhetoric that they'd grow up to be wicked. That's not good enough. Please also spare me the bit about, "they were judged based on their parents' wickedness since they were not of age". Because then that bull about how MERCIFUL God is that he keeps this "wicked system" going in order for many more to be spared holds no water. There are ALWAYS babies, no matter how long God waits, who are going to be killed because their parents are (allegedly) asses - and this is LOVING? Please. God's a freaking sociopathic killer.
