This account in Numbers is really amazing. Earlier in Numbers it is brought out that the HOT Midianite women got a bunch of the HORNY Jewish men to do the nasty. God sent a plague on Isreal and killed 24,000 (won't that divide evenly into 144K?), but then God has them wipe out most all of Midian, then Moses along with the HIGH PRIEST decideds to kill all the women and little boys! The irony is that Jewish men haveing sex with Midianite women/girls got thousands killed cause God did NOT approve, but then he provides Midianite sex slaves for the Jewish soldiers!!!!! Remember, Leviticus gives the rules allowing sex with conquered virgins, and if you did not like the girl or the sex, you had to let her go instead of sell her........geeze WTF.......oompa

NUMBERS 31:16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD.

31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

Moses tells the Israelites to kill every male and all the non-virgin females, but to keep the virgins for themselves.
Is it wrong to commit adultery?

31:18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

dinah, Since you bring up history....what historical sources do you have to show that Jehovah provided rape victims for his soldiers? Does it make sense that Jehovah would provide rape victims for the sons of Israel shortly after creating the Moasic Law Covenant that went in great detail as to exactly what constituted an offense against God and what the punishment for each offence was? If this accuasation against God is true, why did no one complain of his duplicity in the thousands of years since?
