Witness at new job

i was in a team meeting today at work with a man who is a jw.

i found out because i heard someone say he doesn't celebrate birthdays; i kept my eyes open and of course, in his desk drawer was "examining the scriptures".

well, at the meeting, one of my coworkers said, "i have four children, two girls, a boy and my husband".. he blurts out, "that's not funny.

Well, at the meeting, one of my coworkers said, "I have four children, two girls, a boy and my husband".
He blurts out, "That's not funny. That's disrespectful. You shouldn't talk about your husband that way. It's not your place."
Everyone else was astonished, but I wasn't surprised. He continued to mutter under his breath; I couldn't make out much of what he was saying but I did hear "subjection".
Now, until I found this board, I probably would have told him I was DF, and not to talk to me. Now, thanks to all of you, I realize I don't have to play by the WTS rules. If the owner of the universe thinks it is necessary for this man to know, I'm sure he can figure out a way to do it.

What are the rules the WTS pharisees have burdended JWs with?

in another thread, mini questioned why the wts does not see that the gb and elders are like the pharisees.

what do you all think are the "rules" jws have been given that smack of pharisaical (is that a word?

) burdening and/or hypocricy?.

one thing that i could never figure out was how the society could rail against the scribes and pharisees and not blink an eye.

what's up with that?

Instead of giving you God's law as food and drink by which you can banquet on God, they package it in bundles of rules, loading you down like pack animals. They seem to take pleasure in watching you stagger under these loads, and wouldn't think of lifting a finger to help.

No, but that's close. In fact, the woman in my mental image kind of looks like Marissa Tomei, but I know for sure this isn't My Cousin Vinny.
