another weekend's upon us again!
doesn't time fly when you're having fun!.....
or even when you're not, eh?
"This is Elder So and So, and I would like to ENCOURAGE demand, that you join us for a meeting this Sunday. You know it's been two weeks since we have seen you... and we like to ENCOURAGE nag, our friends into showing up. If you have health problems, or family problems, that is ok.. but we still like to encourage you to try to make it, let you know that you need to drop everything else in your life and come be like us".
it's early on a saturday morning and i really couldn't sleep.
so, i'm just rambling on right now.
i got to thinking, are many of the divisions in christianity caused by the writings of the apostle paul?
well, you can make the bible say anything if you read just right. Context. There is a whole lot of wisdom in the bible.... but whether or not, you make it a church doctrine is another thing.
"you should not eat blood".... good advice in those days when undercooked food illnesses were probably rampant... no microwave.... but do you go around letting your child die, if it needs a transfusion? We think not.
The bible does talk about not breaking bread with un-repentant "sinners"or drunkards. This is the scripture that is used to justify Disfellowshipping.... but does the bible really tell us that if someone screws up, and violates a church doctrine that we should totally ignore them? Consider them Dead? I think it says something in there about loving all creations of god, and "I am all things" ... ALL things. How are you going to narrow that down to a specific Idea of what GOD is? Or what petti rituals man should or should not perform in his name. Man has gone further than creating god in his own image.... he puts the words in God's mouth too. Remember what the cover of the thing says in BIG Golden letters......KING JAMES VERSION . A political leader had every say so, about what was written in it. What was allowed to be written. It doesnt say "God's Version". If you ladies will take a moment to remember that this is why it is "your duty before god to obey and .... satisfy, your husbands". All those long nights staring at the ceiling waiting for that fool to do his business... well ya, got good ol King James to thank for that one. If you take a look at nature it is the same thing... the male lion grabs the female by the throat.... and MAKES her do it. This is just man's way.
Since the beginning of man, he has killed, tortured and raped, in the name of GOD. Every war, every dispute, every law is based on someone's Idea of what God wants, or what God thinks is right for man. OR what one man can convince another man to believe that god wants.
So regaurding Paul.... remember that as the owner of a Penis.... it was kinda in his nature to go around telling everybody else how to do it. .... and then every male between then and now has had a chance to add something to it.... so take it at face value... you aren't damned if you can't follow around a bunch of elders.
i strongly believe that it is very difficult to be a good parent in the borg!!
if you think about it, the parents are basically trained to look at their kids as if they are lesser human beings than them..... you know the old head of the house crap!!.
i know from my personal experience, i was df'd in 1992, but i never made the definite decision to never go back until 1997. .
I am certainly no Advocate of JW's, as I lost my entire family to them twenty years ago. I can only speak from my personal experience. My parents believed all the things you have spoken about... honor, obey, spair the rod... etc.
But they raised me to respect them, and I do. It may be a part of the whole "mind control" thing, but I have to say they filled me with a sense of conceince that I dont often find in others. While my father taught me the doctrine of Jw's, both my parents were careful to include a true spiritual surrounding. I have since then, found my own path to the dweller in the great beyond; but I believe without the foundation they provided me with.... I would not be so confident in my own beliefs today.
I think in today's society, perhaps they are a "necesary evil" of sorts. I mean we cant just let the whole world run loose without morality, and conceince. Not that these people are any more moral than any other religion. You find screw ups in everything produced by man. There are those people though, that are not capable of finding that for themselves, and must be taught by a firm hand.
It was perhaps SURVIVING my parents religion, that made me the strong and independent person that I am now. So, do I plan on running my kid out to the nearest Kingdom Hall, to teach him or her a thing or two about life? NO. . . But I have always hoped that if my wife and I, have children of our own, that we could provide the same... intensity, of spirituality.... that I had growing up. A respect for the beauty of the earth, and willingness to treat others with kindness, regaurdless of what color they are.
So, respect? I dont know if I ever thought of it in those terms or not... but they did do something right. Even if their methods made my teen age life a living hell. Do the ends, justify the means , is maybe a better question. I dont know.. that's my two cents.
i found this site a few days ago.
it has been the greatest therapy.
for the first time in twenty years, i have just been given the opprutunity to "let it all out" and answer to every issue i ever had with these folks.
Thank You all for a very relieving bunch of posts..... now I know. Someone said for me to tell you about myself.... my jw history is basically explained in the thread titled "faking it to keep my family" back on the 16th or the 17th of this month.
Other than that I am an a Mural Artist, 33 year old Male, Married to a lovely British Woman (who was raised Church of England, and was blessed to never actually meet a JW) with one son, I play the Glass Flute (search: Hall Crystal Flutes to see one and hear a sample), I also play the piano, and run my own art company Kat Newmas Productions. Kat is a pen-name, my first name is really Timmy, but that doesnt sell my work. I specialize in Nudes (male and female) because pictures of mountains and flowers and pussy cats are so cliche, but for the right price I'll paint the pope milking a purple cow if that is what you need. The pic next to my name is me nude... it was a photo shoot in the woods for a promotional art campaign, entitled "Kat Newmas: In His Natural Environment". I love cats, and have chosen to follow all their examples regaurding life... avoid the humans, until you absolutely have to go near them.
I love to meet and correspond with new people. Always open to friends of any race or religion. . . And I cannot express enough gratitude to the creator of this site, and all the people who participate in it.

I was just wondering if any of you seemed to "obsess" over this site when you first found it. I mean, I wake up and for the first time ever, I go to my pewter and log on... before I even take a pee. I get home from work and rush past the wife... "gotta see what the site is doing" ... it is weird. I have never even been an internet nut. I am an artist.. havent painted a thing in five days, cause I am too busy re-living my childhood on this site... it has even brought back memories, that I had "put aside".
Is this normal? Do any of you seem to be caught up in it? I mean, we all know the extent of how they get inside your head... and stay... forever. Anyway, I am already late for work, but you can be assured I will be right back as soon as I go pull my seven hours in my office. LOL. Just wondering.
Thanx again to Simon (the one I assume created this, from what I have read) This is the best Therapy... and very EMPOWERING.
i am technically still a jw but not a believer.
no... and I havent been dragged into a boy's bathroom and beaten, in over twenty years.
i have been involved with a girl who is of the jw faith; although things have pretty much ended between us... due to her being disfellowshipped for the way we acted together (although she has recently been accepted back).. she did make me think about things... and consider her religion.
however, i think i have come to my senses.... a few things about the religion seem wrong to me... the whole watchtower thing (false prophet), being baptised into the organisation, the subject of blood and the little evidence they seem to have to back this up, the 'new light' etc.. i would really like more information to present to this girl in order to:.
1) show her that it really is not right for me; with good/ unquestionable reasons why;.
I was raised as a jw and can only tell you this: Trying to make them question their religion, is like the dream of every family member of a jw. As far as I know nothing special about Russell. (My grandmother told me once that he smoked cigarettes, and that rule only came about years later)
Was your girlfriend raised in the 'truth'? If so, it is very doubtful that you will change her mind. Although the fact that you "behaved" like that, tells me she will put that belief aside to answer the call of nature.
You could always remind her that the origins of marriage and wedding rings,(though I am married) date back before christianity... some used it as a symbol of "ownership" of the female. Remind her that modern Christianity has borrowed several customs from pagan tradition. Even Jw's. The bread and wine, at passover... a pagan tradition "re-vamped" by the church. (Bread= Earth .... Wine= water... then air... then fire... the elements of Magik. but that is a whole other topic)
But it sounds to me like she has you questioning your own beliefs, if you are even considering it. I would dare to say that most Witnesses raised by Witnesses... dont really know what they believe... they know doctrine... it is pounded in the head since birth. But your girl WILL know that she can lose everything, if she doesnt comply. The fact that she was re-instated, says to me, that she went before the elders and ... repented? for sleeping with you(or whatever you did). If you really do LOVE her, then all you can do is show her that you will love her, no matter what she believes. Maybe, you could introduce her to other options, without making "religion" an issue. Let her know that you believe in "god" and just try to show her that this religion teaches, that man was a mistake, that needs to be wiped out... like God had to start over again, cause he messed up, a SECOND time... according to the bible he already wiped man out with the flood. Sort of a contradiction if you ask me.
If all else fails.... ask her where does the story of creation, leave the dinosaur and the other 60 million years of earths history. (worth a try)
But dont be confrontational. Dont "slam" her religion, or her family....get more flies with honey..... If you slam it, then you only give her family and congregation, more ammunition. Of course all this will pivot on your own lifestyle.... How close is your lifestyle, to that of a christian? I mean, if you are a total "sinner" then forget it.... but if you live a "wholesome" life, you give them less ammo. Cause her peers will say "see how he lives.." anyway, good luck. Love is a fickle thing, and we do much in it's name.
i am thinking about getting a tattoo of a yellow flower on my lower back.
this tattoo artist is really good.
for years I wanted a lady-bug put ... you know... on my ... uh... willy? three words of advice.... DONT DO THAT.
i myself was raised in the "truth" til i was df'd at the age of 21. i have often wondered that if i were allowed to grow up just as every other child did in the u.s. would i have been interested in looking at the organization and taking interest?
do any of you think and wonder the same thing?
Francois, Too funny man. But you are right!
