  this was a comment from the meeting(tm) on sunday.. the person that told me about it, is very confused about the validity of the corporation.

  somewhere between a pimo and a pimi-lite.

  the thing that angered me was that this person has cancer.

  I think that you guys are far too highly emotional against the Governing Body. They are not at all different (both in thought process and actions) to that of Ruhollah Khomeine and his Iranian Clerics ... or the Clerics of Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and others that operate as Theocratic Governments around the world today. In fact we should be grateful for small mercies, in that the Governing Body's power over people is tempered by the power of the State.

  Imagine for a moment, if the Governing Body had years ago encouraged the Brotherhood to sell their homes and move to make a new country somewhere in Africa. Would it now be any different to Iran ... I think not.

  Its just the nature of man to dominate others to their injury, look it up ...its in the Bible.

  As an ex-Elder, I can tell you most definitely, that any discussion with an Elder about doctrine will ALWAYS spiral down to the returned question of .... do you believe that the Governing Body is God's chosen channel today? Which leaves a honest questioner in a bad place.

  Do You Think “Higher Education “Is All That??

  as jehovah’s witnesses, we were regularly told how awful a college education is.

  i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

  it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

  There are two streams of higher education a person can pursue. One of the Arts (including studying Art literally, Literature, Philosophy, history etc.) and vocational higher education for those desiring to move into medicine, engineering, law or education. Unfortunately, those studying the Arts generally will find conjecture due to the very nature of the material considered. For example, why is one work of art a treasure and another trash. The answer is found in personal and public opinion. The same goes for the valuing of ethics and social justice.
  
  On the other hand, the calculation of load factors in bridge design is another issue all together, in that the answer is correct or not. And the same goes for the application of therapeutic techniques on people who are seriously ill ... or past legal judgements that act as precedents.
  
  However in my experience, Professors, Doctors (those holding a doctorate) and other lecturers have proved to be very approachable and easy to question, even during a lecture. Of course no one will respond favorable if he is heckled by an argumentative student ... and neither would I, once I'd gone the hard yards of academia and personal practice.

  In regards to employment, well that's another story all together, in that I've seen many students choose undergrad courses that will lead nowhere. As we know, you can study KLINGON at the University of Texas in Austin, if you like ... but I don't think that your chances are good in earning a living at speaking it.

  the watchtower is thrilled with the amount baptised in the 2019 service year.

  they are reporting an increase in publishers of 103,208 from the 2018 year.. this is what they have posted under global news on their website -.

  We must remember that the average publisher (if they actually kept on quoting it) would now be well under 1%. My guess that it would be between 0.85 and 0.9% in actuality. And it wouldn't be that hard to calculate it, if we averaged difference be average and peak publisher figures previously released over a few years.

  However, it doesn't really matter in one way, in that while the GB initially got some good vibes when they switched over to quote the peak figures, the trend still continues downward. And their use of the inaccurate peak publisher numbers just goes to show how sad they have become.

  What will they do when the peak publisher figure falls below 1%?

  Publisher ID - I Saw It In Person & It Was Terrifying!

  i'd like to start off this post by saying, we all know that the wt loves control.

  it's clear by their history, their wt's, the elder arrangement and so on.

  however, after witnessing and using the publish id program in person, it takes this need for control to a whole new level & it was scary.. if you've ever seen builder assist (the website program used for ldc volunteers) or the metro program, it actually looks pretty similar to that.

  In an effort to centralize record keeping and tracking publishers as they move around, this databace could actually become a new legal problem just waiting to appear for the Society. Imagine for a moment, a sister divorces her abusive husband, takes the kids and moves congregation. In the past she could keep a low profile but now if the abusive spouse has a sympathetic elder 'friend', her new location is only a few click away.

  Very ugly child custody battles are fought with information like this. And while congregational letters will no doubt be sent stressing confidentiality, every Elder here knows that confidentiality it just doesn't exist in practice. As with all human organizations ... it not what you know but who you know.

  a former member said that elders told a relative of his after she was dfed that they would not be praying for her.

  is that some kind of policy, or were they just doing their own thing in that instance?

  You May Now Embrace the Bride!

  just yesterday, a pimi jw that i've known for years told me that at the end of a wedding they recently attended in pennsylvania, usa, the "brother" that officiated the ceremony concluded by saying to the bride and groom, "you may now embrace the bride.

  This "embrace" thing is most likely someone's great idea for that individual wedding. Ether way its relatively easy to find out by just getting a copy of the latest outline. As we all know. there is a outline for everything ... and the marriage talk and vows is just one. Just get a PIMO elder to go online a get a copy of it.

  Seeing that we may be revisiting the 144,000 doctrine, I thought it would be the right time to remention how this idea is linked to the 'sealing' cutoff year of 1935. While it may appear that problem is the ever growing number of people who claim to be of the heavenly class, the real issue at hand the age of the Governing Body members themselves and their authority to govern, or more exactly, their own personal right to claim being anointed. This is because, despite a real shyness to mention the date of births of Governing Body members, only Samuel Herd really qualifies being on the Governing Body, by being born on or before that year. So something has to give ... either the literal nature of the 144,000 or the 1935 cutoff year teaching.

  What the Governing Body with do in their infinite wisdom, who knows. But every year they wait, the more pronounced the problems will be.
