You're are probably right. I'm a bit of a sucker though, on the issue of accountability ... that's my button unfortunately.
thanks
1. the continuity and visibility of the church.
the true church must be continuous from the apostolic age.
there is no room in christianity for a "gap" or interruption of thousands of years during which true christianity ceased to exist and then was revived in the form of another movement.

I's sorry to say ... but I have never read such BS reasoning in all my life. Saying that, if a Pope signs off on some horror, he simple looses his personal standing, but the Church remains unblemished, is plain stupid. Every Witness (and ex-Witness) here fully holds OUR organization accountable for its sins ... because every person or religion that claims a connection with God must be accountable for their actions. Its a fundamental tenet of the Bible.
As a result, its clear that you (aqwsed12345) believe that its possible to white wash the sins of your church away, as you no real understanding of justice at all.
i would suggest:.
the short answer is yes.. the longer answer is a qualified yes, with some caveats.
the short answer is yes because jehovah’s witnesses teach that jesus is michael the archangel, their leader, eldest and most powerful, and have taught this since the very beginning of the religion.
I would say yes ... for these simple reason.
In the Bible, every time we read of a regular angel, archangel, a cherub or seraph, we understand that these are role descriptors ... were only 'Michael' is used as a proper name. In either case, we have to come to the conclusion that all spirit creatures (a side from God) are all 'angels', as its a term to describe the nature of their metaphysical lifeforms.
Some may vary in power, but that's ok ... just as Arnold Schwarzenegger and you are still called 'human'.
ok i just want to officially set the record straight about the report of csa in new zealand.
i have a pimo relative who lives in nz.
as far as public awareness, with regard to the jws, it was basically a big nothing burger.
I think that ultimately it doesn't matter whether or not this investigation makes waves inside NZ congregations. I had my doubts that it would, judging by the lack luster response by Australian Brothers and Sister over theirs. No, what does matter though ... or what is good about it, is the dollar cost the Organization has lost in fighting it. That money is not coming back and it will mean more Kingdom Hall closures or more begging for funds. And those are things that the Brotherhood does see and react too.
'following on from an apology from the prime minister, the commission recommends all faith-based leaders offer a public apology, including the pope, the archbishop of canterbury, the president elect of the methodist church, the moderator of the presbyterian church in new zealand and the head of each individual presbyterian support organisation, the general of the salvation army, the overseeing shepherd of gloriavale, and the governing body of jehovah’s witnesses.'.

The problem with offering a public apology, is the admission of guilt that goes with it.
But after the comment by GB member Fleegle, in saying the Governing Body is not required to apologize for its mistakes, I hardly see them wanting to do so now. Plus if a person or organization admits doing harm, then its opening itself up to litigation, which is a whole level of pain they don't want.
we have lonely old folks and even some not so old.. they know the gb are not who they claim to be.. but they stay in the congregation because they are lonely.
i wonder what percentage of jws this is the case, i would guess a lot.
.
I think an easier way to see this attitude is to survey the number of hardcore believers vs the number of those who are just cruising. And while they might not even admit it to themselves, I'm fairly sure that those in congregation who aren't in an appointed position (ie an Elder, MS or Pioneer), they are just trying to live their own lives with minimal interference from the GB. You can see it more clearly in the young married couples who are generally upwardly mobile, travel internationally regularly and enjoy having expensive toys or fine dinning.
a pair of young blokes came to my door @ 10am (ish) today (wednesday, if that matters).
i opened the door a crack to : hi!
just asking a question: do you think that the world is getting better or worse?*".
Probably the CO is visiting that congregation, and those guys just want to make a good impression. There is always a push when the CO turns up.
i write many times how good it is to be pomo for me, my wife and children.
feeling better then ever.
jw family accept this status.
I think that depends upon your circle of friends, as to what topics they like to talk about or how intensely it goes. In the Organization there are few with whom anyone of us could have a deep conversation ... but if you are now surrounded by uni educated people, I'm sure that you could. And in some occupations or professions, some prefer it when others get to the point.
