Does anybody remember the logic behind why it was wrong to make toasts with drink and say "cheers"? What was up with that, anyway???

Just one more welcome to the board from me! I think there are more of "us" than them anymore!! At least more quality here, that's for sure.

Drugs? I hadn't heard of that but I haven't read up on him much. I'll have to pick up the CD. I'm pretty hooked on Tribute at the moment. There is a clip on the site when they played it on Letterman.

Analysis,
I think you are actually hurting your relatives more than you are helping them if you go to meetings and don't believe. For one thing, you are helping them to justify being in a cult because you occasionally go. Then you are being a hypocrite because you're acting like you believe it but you don't. You aren't being the real you, which is robbing them and yourself at the same time. You are also reinforcing the idea that they can pressure you to believe like they do as if that's actually a good thing.
How do you think you're helping them, because they won't get upset at you leaving the cult? They're upset anyway because you're weak. I don't get it. I think there is another underlying issue that you aren't facing. I don't mean to sound like I'm bashing you, it just doesn't make sense when you reason it out. They certainly don't change what they're doing because they're afraid you'll get upset. Would you say that they don't love you, then? If not, then why the double standard?

Nice thread. I saw one of those tables set up at Arizona State University. There were other tables with books and people were checking out each one except the witness table was COMPLETELY avoided. The faceless witnesses sat there with blank looks. So much for "witnessing." It was pathetic, but 4 people were counting time.

Welcome to the board! I married "in the truth" and what a mistake that was. Hang in there. My family keeps their distance, too, but it's their loss!

I miss having to miss things, like football on Sundays, cartoons on Saturdays, R-rated movies, stuff like that.
