detective walter m. friday -- able, determined, gritty -- lurched out the grime-stained door bearing his name, not bothering to lock up the dingy office he called headquarters and home, the tiny walled-in box hunkered down in just another sad and typically squalid ghetto of his beloved city by the bay.
feel the enwrapping fog, hear the muffled neighborhood screams and cries, disappear into nothingness .
not one to spill his guts or lavish affection indiscreetly, yet this rudely handsome loner, detective friday, harbored a hidden, smoldering passion for his life's love -- work -- no concern for his person or ravages of the heart, ever certain to lie in a path not yet trod.. .
Great read CC! Happy you've had time to let your creative juices ferment, glad you're back.

Thanks for sharing Simon. I love pigs! They're supposed to be smarter than my dogs! (Actually, that'd be pretty easy if you only count my Pomeranian - not the sharpest puppy in the pen).

a website defending two major stories connected with watchtower corruption is found here:.
http://www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk/.
there is no way to identify, rebut or reach the creator of this website to offer counter-argument.. it exist solely as propaganda as far as i can determine.

Reading everyone's experiences during a JW childhood has been comforting for me - thank you - I was one of those children who fit neither in the 'world' or in the KH. I yearned to have the simple freedoms of the kids at school. I used to wonder why I was considered 'bad association' by age ten at the KH.
Books and music were my escape. I read here others found solace in books too and I am so glad.

hi, i haven't been on here for a really long time and stopped researching, however, i am starting to get back into it again.. so with that said, i have a question.... when i looked up a word phrase i wanted to find in an old 2004 w.t.
library cd, it came up with a code of "ts" at the bottom of the printout that i printed.
i failed to note what j.w.

so i have been replying to letters from a jw friend who suddenly started writing to me after i've been out for nearly 25 years.. i have mentioned things like the poverty that pioneering causes from my own experience, worrying about having enough money to buy food.. i also said that the scrimping would have been worth it if we had been saving to buy a home or go on lovely holidays.. instead we ended up with nothing materially and we were living in a tiny rented flat when we left.. when i think of all the places i wanted to visit with my husband but couldn't because we were pioneering and had no money and now it is too late because my husband has died at the age of 54. we did get to visit some beautiful places but we ran out of time.. what i was trying to say to her was - life's too short.
stop waiting for the new system, get on with your life.
stop exhausting yourself in that religion.
What a great thread - thanks everyone for sharing their pioneering stories.
Xanthippe,
Though you may love your JW friend from way back, please be careful about getting too involved - you have a new life now & shouldn't let all that JW negativity continue to upset you. Your friend's responses are carefully in line with what the elders/GB would have her say. She may have genuine affection for you & the friendship you both once shared, but remember she is supposed to try to get you back in to the cult & will do and say anything for this to occur.

there are many silly doctines and viewpoints.. one of the strangest ones is the blood doctrine.. why anyone could logically accept this belief is beyond reason..
Splash,
My brothers and I weren't allowed the stick-on tattoos either!
Also as a child I remember we could only have Easter Eggs the day after Easter, & then only if our mother had smashed them up first with the meat-tenderiser. (???!!!)

this may come as a shock to some people, but the current forum structure was kind of thrown together without much real thought and then evolved a bit over time.
there are a few things that particularly grate on me and areas where i don't think the subjects work particularly well.
'friends' is a bit vague and becomes a dumping ground, news & world events vs politics & current affairs is hard to decide sometimes, child abuse is a scandal but isn't contained withing 'scandals & coverups' etc.... with a new forum platform imminent, it's a good time to solicit ideas to improve things.
Thanks Simon! I'm sure everyone can't wait to see photos of my pets!!!

jehovah witness survivors of child sexual abuse would be among those who qualify for expert, free legal advice over the phone and in face-to-face meetings in key locations for members of the public considering speaking with the royal commission.
free legal service for child abuse royal commission.

I watched Catholic Cardinal Pell being interviewed (he wasn't exactly dripping with humility) live on television last month by the Victorian Parliamentary Committee; it would be a broadcast not to miss should the elders responsible for covering up child sexual abuse appear in the hot seat too, for everyone to see.
