Priest and FF make good points.
With the newer Mac Pros (read intel chip inside) you can have the best of both worlds.
At work it is mostly a windows environment, but I love to use the mac at home. If I need to take some work home I can boot into the windows environment (or with a piece of software run the mac os and windows in parallel with each other).
Due to the lack of support for vista the company stayed with XP in the engineering section. It will depend on the vendors support of 7 if we get to upgrade or not. IMHO vista was released too early in the QA cycle many patches later it is better but still suffers from the bad rep.
edited to add.
BTW the upgrade from Leopard (OS X 10.5) to Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) true 64 bit native system, less than $30 for the DVD.
Got to hand it to Apple when they want to rub salt in the 7 upgrade wounds.

Furuli isn't the problem, it is the mouthpieces that use his work to muddy the water of research.

Describe What Type Of Person You Are
by minimus inthe truth---good and bad points, positives and negatives.. i'll start.. i'm pretty much a positive person.
i generally am a very good judge of character and can usually see easily the positives and negatives of a situation or a person.
i'm a bit impatient when dealing with a person who doesn't listen to facts.

Russian JWs in Serious Trouble - about to be banned
by Dogpatch inalthough it has been leading up to this for a long time, it appears russia has made up their mind to get rid of "extremist" groups by banning them, and jws are pretty much at the top of the list.
the last few years under putin they have been giving them heaps of trouble.. .
i am not for bans as it usually backfires, but under the "new" admnistration it looks like hard-core responses are in order.

Quick Translation
GoshawkThe dates of the Babylonian and Persian Empire, as shown opposite, are the generally accepted last half century. According to this view began Nebuchadnezzar in 605 BC. and to govern the destruction of Jerusalem took place in their 18th year, in 587 / 6 BC., and the conquest of Babylon by Cyrus was in 538 BC. Recently, this chronology, however contested by RJ Furuli from Oslo. His alternative name, the Oslo-received chronology. He questions the reliability of various astronomical tablets (which form the basis of the current chronology) and will prefer to trade all kinds of tablets. It Furuli also believes that the duration of the Babylonian captivity for seventy years was Israel, while the usual chronology, about fifty years suits. The result of his research has previously ruled that Nebuchadnezzar and the destruction of Jerusalem took place in 607 BC., Twenty years earlier than generally assumed (587 / 6 BC.).
This new approach is generally ignored in the scientific discussions, but CO Jonsson has been thoroughly discussed. In his book The Gentile Times Reconsidered he calls the material Furuli overlooked. On the Internet it also provides detailed criticism of the chronology that now called the Oslo chronology, but much was known as the chronology of the Watchtower Society of Jehovah's Witnesses. As a strong commitment to the early date of the destruction of Jerusalem. The criticism of Jonsson is thorough and shows that Furuli all material that does not fit into his schedule rejects. So he suggests that an important chronological tablet in Berlin (with other information than its own reconstruction, VAT 4956) in the last century by someone broken and processed, so it contains inaccurate information. Such speculation is supported by any expert. Too many proposals of transfer of astronomical observations to date appear to control another computer simulations to be incorrect. For such reasons, Jonsson revised chronology wrong. The usual chronology he finds confirmed by more and more.translation by google -

Dumbest Awake Title Ever?
by metatron ini hold in my hand the nov. awake magazine entitled "technology - blessing or curse?"..
now, i understand the need for balance and moderation in using technology, as the magazine says - but could they come up with a more intelligent sounding title?
it makes the question sound as if abandoning technology might be a solution, a considered choice, a real possibility.
