How Did You Become Irregular and Then Inactive As A Publisher?
by minimus indid you suddenly just stop reporting time?
did you do it gradually???
what reaction did you get from the elders when you missed your first month reporting time?

Kind of got help in that area.
Having moved to a new territory to go to college (oops strike 1) I was treated rather coldly by the elders in either of the congregations in that town. I made up my mind that I would not post my time there but would update my time when I went home to visit. Later when a girl I had introduced to the truth started studying with an elder's wife I refused to be slandered or gossiped about (strike 2 for not arse-kissing). Actually had the same elder insist on going with me in the field work on weekend, he was rather puzzled when the time didn't show up in their congregation totals. After a visit from some elders and the CO to try and convince me to quit school in favor of the preaching work. (Strike 3 for not putting the kingdom first in early 80's) (and these guys had college educations as well). Pretty much got fed up with the treatment, didn't volunteer for impromptu talks, or reenroll in the ministry school when I came back to school, and meeting attendance was even more sporadic. So I guess it could be said that the elders helped me to reduce my time and attendance in various ways.

Pioneers 3: The field service (tm) approved car breaks down and crashes into an abandoned church where an apostate get loose and runs amuck.
Pioneers Resurrection: Ripley post tribulation adventures fighting newly resurrected apostates that didn't have the decency to wait to die at Armageddon.

The ten best ways to disrupt a District Assembly:
by czarofmischief in1. have an apostate food truck outside with free burritos and shasta cola.. 2. wear a smurf costume and run across the stage.. 3. bikini car wash across the street.. 4. have an old-school breakdancing session on the corner, cardboard and all.
bonus if you do it on a mat made of watchtowers and primary colored book covers.. 5. have a garage sale or flea market in the neighborhood during the afternoon session.. 6. sit in the audience and applaud everything that anybody says - try to get a standing ovation for each sentence of the closing prayer.. 7. put a recording of rap, heavy metal, or other forbidden music on instead of the kingdom melodies.. 8. get fifty of your friends to walk around in the stadium during the session, holding signs that say, "louder please!
" and "take your shirt off!

Wear a t-shirt with the picture of a man holding a cell phone to his ear and the caption reads:
Can you shun me now?

Through everything... do you feel that you learned soemthing?
by anotheropenviewpoint ini am new to the board and have read countless gripes and pokes at "the organization" but i fail to find one interesting question.. in preface... i was disfellowshiped myself over 5 years ago.
in that time, i had done much searching, visited many churches and faithes.. going to some for as short as one session and some as long as 6 - 8 months.
after i felt my search was in vein i stopped attempting to go to these shurches all together.. i never forgot how to pray through.

Primary lesson learned:
Do NOT let others do the thinking for you. But, if you do then don't whine when you are enslaved to whatever is the current "guiding light" of the day.

Let the shunning begin!
by Cicatrix inboy, this has just been my lucky week.
twice in one week i was the recipient of "active shunning" by former congregation members.. scene one-the local discount food place where all the blue collar folks (and a few smart upper crust ones) buy their food.
i'm busy grocery shopping and sister zealous comes marching down the other side of the aisle, dutifully studying the cans on said shelf.

I'm sorry this is a bit off-topic but I couldn't resist after reading your post.
How many here remember the "I'm with stupid" ===> t-shirts?
Maybe the appropriate apostate t-shirt might read;
I'm with the shunner
or
They are shunning me =====>
Might be worth a chuckle,

Telltale Symptoms of Fanatics--Sound Familiar?
by Trotafox ini read an interesting article today in the friday sun sentinel newspaper.
the subject matter to which they were speaking shall remain anonoymous lest this thread go in another direction then the one intended.
it simply brought to mind a very strong similarity to an organization with which we are all familiar.

I agree with what you have found in that article. Fanatacism combined with crowd psychology opens many doors to human behavior that would probably be best left closed.
Nice to read one of your posts again.
