  can anyone explain to me what the "gehena" is?

  i've seen it all over the nwt yet i haven't seen it once in my christian bible.

  But how come I have never seen the word "Gehena" used in other bibles, just in the NWT? Whats the real translation from hebrew to english?

  I have asked some JWs what this is and since they dont believe in hell they tell me it can be translated to death or tomb. I need some more info on this, enough to backfire at a JW and outgun them. Lol.

  Thanks for the links NewLight. I did not know that most people here were ex-JWs. I had some questions to have answered and searched for a JW forum to have these questions answered according to their point of view. Now that I know that most here are ex-JWs I feel better to ask more questions freely and to know that most share my point of view also. Again thanks for the info.

  I've seen that they dont really care if they insult other religions. I have some friends that are JWs, and they all believe that the JWs are known worldwide for their good behavior and honesty. I was wondering how in the world they would know or think something like this and then one my JWs friend showed me one of their "Awake!" magazines where it said that. It wasn't strange to find out that it was published by the WatchTower. To me all that society does is brainwash those poor people who will then suffer for things such as no blood transfusions. The worst thing in my point of view (without offending JWs) is that they have wrong doctrines but yet go door to door misleading other people. Also, I cant possibly think of preaching to my friends or trying to argue with them in something we disagree because of our religion. I tried once but all they do is answer back at you with texts from the bible and show it to you on their New World Translation. I then found one of their literature books which basically tells them what to answer at any sort of attack. To me it seems that this religion spends most of its time trying to defend itself rather than worshipping God. (I'm getting a little off topic from the question, sorry, but just wanted to say what I think).

  Thanks for the welcome Brummie. I read your profile LB, and sorry for what I said. To me it just can't fit in my head how JWs be so brainwashed by the WatchTower Society. I mean, they make all these rules such as no celebrating birthdays and stuff like that which dont even make sense. They say that because in the bible it never speaks about people celebrating their birthdays. Well, I dont know where in the Bible it says that "Jehovah Witnesses can not marry non JWs." Someone try to find that in the bible for me please. Oh, and dont use the New World Translation, i bet they already fixed up something like that. Lol. Sorry for attacking the religion, but i respected their beliefs until I found out that they dont respect our beliefs or our religion..

  LB, I would say you are the only one around here that thinks of that kind of things. You might think that your religion is perfect, and that non Witnesses are perverted. Theres good and bad people in every religion, even in the JWs. I have not been presented a strong argument of why JWs dont date or marry non-witnesses. It's just a rule made by your religion that doesn't make sense. It's not like you are sinning, or like others said: the mate will have children and instruct them in another religion besides JWs and they will perish in Armaggedon for his or her fault. It seems to me a pretty weak argument with no solid foundation, but thanks for answering.

  larc, yeah, something like that. It's a friend yet i dont understand their point of view towards dating, and other matters. JWs think they are the one and only perfect religion and only they can be saved, what about 200 years before when this religion was not around? I've tried to understand their point of view, and even been reading some of their books published by The WatchTower but to me it seems like some things are twisted here and there, and some doctrines I do not understand or see the point to it. Im not malicing their religion, but just wonder where they get a lot of these things. One of those topics i did not understand was the restriction from dating non-JWs and thats where the question came from. As you have seen I am not a JW, but i respect their beliefs although I do not believe them. Thanks.

  Thanks for the replies. Lets say that both were believers and dedicated to God, but they were different religion, one of them being a JW, would that matter?
