Luke 21:35 doesn't just say "Earth" as though one could relegate the events to a portion according to one's needs. It clearly says more.
Strong's and Vine
For [G1063] as [G5613] a snare [G3803] shall it come [G1904] (5695) on [G1909] all [G3956] them that dwell [G2521] (5740) on [G1909] the face [G4383] of the whole [G3956] earth [G1093].
Clearly it's much bigger than 70CE.
Not sure why the link fails for some. Here is a URL that goes to the page. The doc is there.

The preterist has a problem. For example.
Luke 21:34,35
34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
If it was all 'said and done' in 70, then one has to explain the "whole Earth" part, and the 'standing before the Son of Man'. All done?
The 'dual fulfiller' like Watchtower has a problem. Matthew 24:21 shows that there can be no "next time".
21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
Them what believe at all have a problem. Matthew 24:1 “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
There's still lot's of stones on top of other stones there in Jerusalem. In fact, there's a whole tower itact. You can visit.
And, Jesus said Luke 21:31
" 31 so [also] ye, when ye see these things to be done, know ye, that the kingdom of God is nigh."
Perhaps any believer can explain how it was that the kingdom of God 'came' in 70CE. I know that the Romans came. But kingdom of God???
The link I placed above is the only document I've read that answers all the questions for me.

Yes, the "scriptures" have endured crusades and dusty monastaries and thousands of years. As well as the 'keepers' (the chrurch) who have interjected. Did you have a read of the link I posted? Perhaps something new.

The Jews were a fast growing religion in their day. Until the Roman Army came. Historians wrote that 'they were slaughtered like cattle'.

District Convention 2012
by apocalypse inhave anyone of you out there been so bold as to voice a concern, and voice it so well that it got back to the circuit overseer, then the do, then back to the branch and end up becoming something that had to be mentioned at the district convention?.
in summary of the watchtower at the dc, i recorded elder g. saying "the clear direction that that would be both when we have to agree with their direction and even if we do not fully agree" in relation to 'fully supporting jehovah's arrangement of things'.. of course he was speaking out both sides of his mouth.
how can one agree without agreeing?

No GB where I went. But Ken Little of Canadian Branch Office gave the talk. He went on and on. Funny how, the higher up they get in the BORG, the longer they talk. I guess they figure their elevated position puts them beyong the rules they make for the good-for-nothing-slave class. I think he forgot he too is part of the GFNSC.
He went on and on... and on...
I recall some trigger phrases. When he got to the part of the talk I have lovingly termed "the talk down" or "the speak", he used the phrases "know your place" and "you will suffer" in order to dissuade sippin' and slurpin' the goods.
This part of the talk usually makes up the majority of the babble. He mentioned almost 12,000 now partaking. Many commented after ..."wasn't that number supposed to come down?" You know, as we get 'closer to the end'... I don't think they remember the articles a few years back that did away with that 'shrinking number-closer end' crap. And it seems that good ol' Washtower realizes how ineffective those articles proved to be in killing the idea.
If you don't just come on out and say it plainly and bluntly, the dubs don't get it. Too bad Washtower could not have said "we were wrong and the dwindling number of partakers is NOT indicitive of the nearness of the end". Too bad Washtower. Enjoy the fallout.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

I would be really interested in hearing a recording of the GB meeting where it was decided. But alas...! None such exist.
I could speculate though.
I know of a case in Amherstburg Ontario where someone fell down the stairs at a book study. Or is that balk study...
Anyway, it was a sh*t storm. Talk about causing division. The homeboy encouraged the visitor to sue him, otherwise, how do you get the insurance to pay out? So, visitor gets a lawyer. Lawyer sees dollar signs. The rest is history.
But there's still a better reason. Resources....
Dubs have a limited amount of loot, and guvernin' buddy-boy wants to get it all. When I was young, there used to be a contribution box at the book study home. And people put in loot. The conductor did the collectin'... Made out a reciept and took the loot. The loot went to the Society.
I remember thinking (when I was young) , hey, that's great! Some money for the poor brother whose house were wrecking with our traffic.
Ahhh to be young and green again. Well, we know where the loot went now don't we?
In any case, the Watchtower Society was not getting any loot from the book study. The practice of collection at the book study kinda fell away. So, the book study was no longer profitable for GBoys. Only a drain on resources. All expenses, no revenue.
I submit that the real reason the book study was ended, after all the years of talking about how damned allMighty important and "vital" it was, is simply that it was not generating revenue.

Today's Watchtower is offensive.
by apocalypse inactually, most everything in the sept. 15, 2011 rag is offensive.
but particularily the points that will cause extreme hardship in the lives of witlesses.
the first part of today's article "are you letting jehovah be your share" (page 11), finds the "annointed" (a.k.a.

I wasn't in the room for the whole rag, but I still heard enough crap.
If some of the dubs were to take out a whip and start to flail themselves right there in the hall, I wouldn't have been surprised. "Look at me governin bod... I luv's ya" Beat me some more, more, more.
