"Quote: Most Jehovah's Witnesses think their baptism represents some kind of lifelong dedication to God. It's really a contract with a publishing company." Indeed, people join a religion because they are attempting to satisfy a spiritual longing. When I got baptised, my reason was so that I could have the free gift of Holy Spirit. It was to deepen my relationship with my Creator, the Christ. First and foremost, my loyalty rests with my Spirit. If the religion fails me, I am free to leave, to pursue my spiritual longing elsewhere. I have found the jehovah witnesses to be a publishing company and not a link to God or spirituality by any stretch of the imagination. I am glad to be disfellowshipped because I don't belong in a book publishing company. I belong to Christ. If anything the jehovahs broke their contract with ME! Cheers, ESTEE

Why isn't disfellowshipping a breach of contract?
by DT ini had some thoughts that might be relevant to the recent rumors and discussion about possible changes to the disfellowshipping arrangement.
(see this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/168468/1.ashx).
most jehovah's witnesses think their baptism represents some kind of lifelong dedication to god.

Wanting to date, but
by Junction-Guy inwell first off, i am mostly happy being single.
i don't have this big desire to get married again, in fact i am kind of commitment shy now, and don't know how i ever would be able to function in a relationship again.
but there are certain events and certain times of the year when i feel alone and would like a date.

Instead of dating just try a little more social activity.
This works, JunctionGuy . . . If you have a hobby, join a group who are into that.
For example, I wanted to learn to dance, so three years after my divorce, I took dancing lessons. Things naturally progressed from there. I met guys and had a safe place to get to know them. By the way, dance schools are heavily populated with women and have very few men. You'd have lots of lovely ladies to pick from. You wouldn't have to ask them out until you got to know them a little. In fact, our dance school usually went out in a group for coffee after a lesson. Another safe way to get to know people better. You're in control, JunctionGuy!
I'm not saying you have to take up dancing. Just pick a hobby and go have some fun!
I'm cheerin' fer you, JunctionGuy!Keep us posted!

City Loses JW Convention-Parking dispute:Two versions-Guess who lied?
by AndersonsInfo incity loses conventionwednesday, october 01, 2008 by lee roopand kay campbelltimes staff writers [email protected]@htimes.comparking dispute spurs jehovah's witnesses to move .
jehovah's witnesses will move their three summer meetings from huntsville to birmingham next year, ending for now a 12-year string of meetings that brought nearly $9 million a year in business to local hotels and restaurants.
a dispute over parking has ended the annual meetings, at least for 2009, as the city's largest single convention booking, bringing 6,000 people to town each of the three weekends.

You were one of those early sacrificial lambs. You were ALWAYS kind, never ruffled anyones feathers. A positive asset to any post-JW site. Hugs!
Aw, thanks Razorblade. I see I just missed your birthday, too . . . so Happy belated birthday! About this site, I am sorry to see it go, but I must say it is a sorry reflection on the JWs who felt they must use threats and intimidation to try and shut us up. The actions of Simon’s and Angharad’s enemies really shows everyone their true colors. Simon and Ang are loving and caring people who have saved many lives by making this site freely available. The JWs appear to have a murderous intent. They just want to shut our mouths---but that will never happen. By breaking up this site, they have in effect, been the cause of at least two new sites. The JWs can’t seem to apply the scripture to themselves, which says, “Do not meddle with these men, but let them alone; (because if this scheme or this work is from men, it will be overthrown; but if it is from God, you will not be able to overthrow them;) otherwise you may perhaps be found fighters actually against God.”---Acts 5:38-39.
Thanks for posting Razorblade. I don’t come on this site very much --- or any site. I’ve been so busy with work and school. I have registered with a couple of the sites mentioned. And I am watching for newbies for a specific reason. A dear friend was visiting the east coast of Canada and knows of someone who is being shunned right now. Dawn suggested to this person to get going on some of these healing forums. Dawn is smart. She has seen my progress and knows these sites work.
If only the jws could see what sickness lurks within their ranks. I pray for them all. After all, my kids are still in.
I am grateful for the internet. My mom didn’t have internet --- and got sucked back in. But that doesn’t happen as often anymore --- we know too much to get sucked back into that vortex.

Hi Estee! I'm pretty new ( just topped 100 posts ). I'm really bummed that this site is ending. I'm just getting the hang of it and other sites I've tried are a little awkward. If someone would like to post some links to simmilar sites it would be appreciated.
Aculama, lovely to hear from you. And I’m glad to see that our friend Gopher has listed a few new places to log on for support. Thanks Gopher!

Other ex-JW sites are listed below. The first one's members are mainly non-JWD people, but it's the second largest ex-JW forum and it's about 4 years old. The other two are newer, springing up in response to this site's impending finale. The 'recovery' site is for support, the 'support forum' site is mainly for ex-JW chatter.

Hi, I am kind of new here. I have not tried the other sites yet. But I have to say I am very interested in the stories of the "old timers" sometimes I read a profile the their previous posts. I can't get enough of individual stories of people who have been through what I am. So please keep it coming.
Welcome to the forum no more koolaid! It sure is a lot quieter here these days. But quiet is okay, too. Lots is going on, though! Too bad the JWs are such cowards that feel they must threaten good folks like Simon and Angharad and their family. Appears the JWs are monsters. Oh well, they gotta look at themselves in the mirror.
The Missus, thanks for posting. Keep talking about your journey out of the WT. It will help the wounds heal. In the past exjws were all isolated from one another. There were no networks of help. But not so anymore! We have these wonderful healing forums where we can talk and feel supported and vent and heal --- and move on with our lives!
Love you all!

I believe it. Part of our training was to fear higher education. "It could shipwreck our faith," the elders said. Well, now we know . . . the elders put the fear in us to keep us under the WT thumb.
I'm in university now!

The Alpha males in the JW religion
by dawg inwe, as ex-jws should know this more than anyone, as the leaders of our old religion were usually the ones that towed the party line, which usually meant they were dumb enough to believe that nonsense.
the smartest man i ever knew was a professor of mine, alexander kaufman... graduate of the jfk school at harvard, he taught john rawls philosophy and economics at uga.... .
i used to laugh my ass off when he had visiting economic professors from places like princeton, yale, harvard...all the top schools; he'd hold an open debate forum where the greatest conservative minds in the world would debate their economic theories against his... i am still a friend of his and have enjoyed many a beer with his guests, who usually were his friends, the debating of these men was really something to behold.
