What a blessing to leave the Cult
by ElderSmurf inthis is our first christmas as a family after leaving the cult that defiles gods name.
its been a good year, not only have we left the cult but so have most of our family.
its wonderful to finally be free of the hateful/doublefaced society and to finally see how others worship the almighty god.

Do jws realise the amount of control the watctower has over them?
by Gadget ini was talking to my ex-girlfriend today, and we got on about the witnesses.
she refuted how much control the watchtower has over each witness, saying that the watchtower is only a guide as to what to do, everybody has to make their own mind up.
is this a general view of witnesses?

Blondie,
It's amazing how, in one paragraph, "Christ?s 'sheep' 'know' his voice" is twisted into "?hear his voice? through visible representatives." namely, "only Jehovah?s Witnesses" who are "substituting for Christ."
Christ?s "sheep" "know" his voice ... How then will people today hear the voices of God and his Chief Shepherd? ... Who will tell them? ... only Jehovah?s Witnesses ... people can ?hear his voice? through visible representatives ... substituting for Christ.
Thanks for calling attention to such a great quote that illustrates the WT teaching that people don't really need God, Christ or the Bible since JWs have taken Christ's place by "substituting" for him.
This quote zeros in on the very crux of WT propaganda.

Blondie,
Thanks for yet another brilliant analysis. Your quotes accomplish a lot in exposing how the WTS often subtly says something but really means something else. An example:
Of course, our best tool is the Bible, and we need to make good and proper use of this indispensable tool. [WT Study article for 12/21/03.]
This magazine, The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah?s Kingdom, is the principal instrument employed by the "slave" in the teaching work. (w89 3/15 p. 22)
'Instrument = tool.' (Merriam Abridged Dictionary)
If only JWs could read between the lines as you have us do in the following:
To be "a workman with nothing to be ashamed of," Timothy was reminded that no deviation from the true teachings of God?s Word [the WTS] would be allowed. Timothy was not to permit his personal views to shape his teaching. He was to center his preaching and teaching strictly on the Scriptures [WT publications]. (2 Timothy 4:2-4) In this way, honesthearted individuals would be directed to have Jehovah?s [the WTS] mind on matters, not to adopt worldly philosophy. (Colossians 2:4,8) [Quote from WT Study article for 12/21/03.]
I also appreciate points like this one:
[T]he puny logic of man is no match for the supreme wisdom of God (Isaiah 55:9) [Quote from WT Study article for 12/21/03.]
That includes the puny logic of the WTS. Carefully examine what they teach according to the Scriptures as you would any human source.
Your summaries are always delightful and refreshing. I wish you lots of energy for a long, long time for such accomplishments.

I bought a bible
by Beans inthis is freaky for me, i have no belief that there is god but i wanted to have a bible for refrence so i picked up the kjv.
i think it is a good version to have as some jw's like to quote from it and is good for solving arguments and answering questions.. i have not had a bible since i was 15 and don't even know where my green book went after i quit.
funny thing is when i open it up i really have no idea what to look at or look for because i really have no interest in any of it's content.
