Hey Mouthy..................I was in Sydney last weekend. My son went to see an American performer by the name of Marylin Manson. I found out at work that his stage show had unusual uses for drum sticks and microphones.

I'm sorry I can't be much help to your friend though. I'm afraid the Aussie sport culture is something I never truely embraced. I get sick of the fanaticism and obsession, and I especially hate the long cricket season. All I know is that the Canberra Raiders lost last weekend, ending their chances of playing the rugby finals.

But the weather is improving and spring is beautiful, apart from the swooping magpies.

Is there ANYTHING at all you think the borg was right about?

i'm not suggesting that the borg is right in itself.

but can you think of anything the borg taught that was actually beneficial and good?

just as an example: i use to be a smoker but when i started to study i gave up my 30 a day habit because i was told it was wrong.

Just as an example:

I use to be a smoker but when I started to study I gave up my 30 a day habit because I was told it was wrong. I had tried to give up before but failed every time. My incentive to give up now was fear of displeasing god. So maybe the reason for giving up was pathetic, but it had a great result for me and my children. I don't believe people who smoke should be df'ed but I have seen the benefits of giving up.
I also didn't get involved with anyone for the same reason I gave up smoking. Again, pathetic, but it was good for me and my kids to not have a relationship with someone (some turned out to be really undesirable) at a time when I was still very vulnerable and disfunctional.
After 7 years in the borg, I married a most wonderful man who happened to be a brother. I met him there and he's turned out to be the best thing to happen to me in the borg! He helped me leave and now we are both out and very happy.

So by fluke I did benefit by being in the borg. Yes, maybe I would have given up smoking eventually and picked a good man without being a dub. But the fact is it happened while I was in. So I see those 3 things as positives. Not the borg itself being positive, but in it I got something which turned out to be good.

that my life be filled with family and friends.
that life brings us health and happiness.
happy times with the man of my dreams(my gorgeous hubby), as long as we are here.
peaceful days.
sharing beautiful summer days with family, friends, good food and fine wine.
never being expected to be perfect.
sleeping peacefully each night and doing it all again the next day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm married to a lurker who posted here over a year ago but has stopped since I started posting. What does that mean????????? Anyhow, I'ld like him to post again, he's very clever, knows alot about the borg's mistakes and false prophecies and helped me see the borg for what it really is.

my boyfriend (feels more like fiance though i guess as we've talked about but just need the ring) and i have been together over two yrs and living together for over a yr. he never was a jw, and professes to be no religon and isn't even sure god exsists.

is your signifigant other a jw or non-witness?

seperated and divorced from my first husband (non-jw).

I became a dub and spent 7 years single with 3 kids. Then I married a jw (he also came into the borg like me), and we were a dub couple for 4 years.

Now we are both out, actually the whole family is out. And we are very happy!

Meeting up with another X dub..........plenty of preaching work to do!

hi all.....................just to let you know that i'm very excited about meeting with another friend from my dub days.. a couple of weeks ago i looked her up in the phone book and rang, out of the blue.

she sounded very hesitant to talk to me, maybe just confused.

i jumped right in and said i wasn't going to meetings anymore so i had plenty of time to catch up with long lost friends.

Hi all.....................just to let you know that I'm very excited about meeting with another friend from my dub days.

A couple of weeks ago I looked her up in the phone book and rang, out of the blue. She sounded very hesitant to talk to me, maybe just confused. I jumped right in and said I wasn't going to meetings anymore so I had plenty of time to catch up with long lost friends. She said she was relieved because she was worried I had rung to encourage her to return to meetings, that's what I did the last time I saw her..........(eeerrrrrrrggggggggg).

Then of course she asked 'why' I wasn't going to meetings anymore. I went straight into the whole story about my family's experience, the UN, the unscriptural procedures, etc..............she said she was shaking in her boots, not because she didn't believe me but because she felt sad for my family.

While talking to her she expressed that she felt a sense of relief in coming to know these things because now her suspitions about the borg were confirmed. For a long time she had been feeling guilty about not going to meetings, yet couldn't bring herself to going back.

We chatted for a long time but I had to end the conversation because I was at work and had to leave for home. I told her she could ring me any time, gave her my phone numbers and said I was looking forward to catching up with her. She assured me she would call me back because she wanted to know everything in detail, she wanted to see the video about sexual abuse and needed to ask me many things. A week went by and last Thursday she rang me at work. She said she would like me to have morning tea with me this Friday morning at her place but wants to come to my house next time because she wants to see our books, letters etc.

I guess this shows that we can be very useful and positive in helping people shed the WTS guilt and control. I hope that I can be a true friend to her and use all my info, knowledge and personal experiences to empower and strengthen her to stand up to them (dubs).

I'll keep you posted.
