  hello my american friends, and those from other places

  i was a witness for almost 20 years, and have been through a lot to offer my story today.

  my mother was conned by the jehovah's witnesses when she was just forteen years old after sitting in with a schoolfriend on a bible study back in england.

  Hello and welcome. Wow, you have lived through the opression of the Soviet Union and the Watchtower at the same time. I read of the difficulties in Russia and wish you success in your work and life. I have read of the strength and heritage of Russian people. Had a chance to try real Russian Vodka the other day. It wasn't clear but sort of a tan color and very good what I remember of the night we had it. Please stay on this board because it is very helpful and very kind hearted people come here. Best to ya.   according to the dubs?

  basic teaching book, "worship the only true god", people in their promised "new system" will be brought to perfection, but gradually.

  the book teaches that an individual?s progress to perfection will be dependent on his/her "obedience".

  I am so sick of the idea of testing one's fitness for eternal life. Test, test, test! Exert yourself. It's as if one is totally centered on survival. God gives you instincts and then chastises you for acting on them.

  dinosaurs(sp?)

  what is the belief of jdubs about dinosaurs now?

  my daughter came home the other night from her grandma(jw) saying that she wouldn't let her watch a show about dinosaurs on discovery channel because what they were showing is not true.

  dinosaurs were not meat eaters.

  I recall a mag stating it was inconclusive whether some of the carnivores were predators or actually carion eaters. That could explain the teeth. There is some truth to this in the case of T. Rex, at least. Controversy exists in the paleontology community over its validity. At least from a morphological view, Rex' hind legs were not the type for swift running. The knee is too low. Hence, a carrion candidate. Unfortunately, this does not hold for a host of others clearly "designed" for speed and tearing of flesh.

  Future Generations.

  as a child, i always seemed to be the youngest one.

  i was almost the youngest in my class at school, the youngest out of my cousins and the youngest in the cubs or boy scouts.

  i remember once, at age 10, we were asked to work out how old we would be in the year 2000, wow, i would be 53!

  parallel except for the hair part. Great post. My kid is where I was around '75, also. Gettin' old is the best alternative. Continually surprises me to be called an older one or senior but trying to get used to it. Seems like it came up all of a sudden. Best to ya, Carlton

  Older ones here, what do you remember being told about 1975 ???

  i was just a little kid when the 1975 thing came about, didn't pay much attention to it, after it was over, my parents told me it was just some people being over anxious, and being about 8 at the time i believed it, now when you research you find some amazing articles.

  what do you remember being told about 1975 as the year got closer ?

  Hell yeah! Dropped out of pharmacy school at Univ. Cincinnati in my 4th year to go preach while still had time. I remember a tape of brother Kite giving a talk that really spurred me on. He said, when asked "what if 1975 comes and nothing happens? Well, what if it's all over in 1974?" He said the "Aid book" doesn't mention any date after 1974. I wonder where he is now? He sounded like a used car salesman in retrospect. The hype was so bad remember a sister after an assembly stating that she didn't care if the rest of her family that wasn't in the truth were destroyed at Armageddon because they didn't deserve to live since they didn't respond to her preaching. Unbeleivable. Best to ya

  Yesterday we bought our Very First Christmas Tree!

  well, actually, i did, but with the blessings of the family.

  it's fake (too many allergies in the house to risk a real one), pre-lit, and 7 feet tall.

  Read the book The Divinci Code. Very interesting read. There has been some discusion whether CT Russell was a Free-Mason. Certainly his ideas of pyramids meshes and his grave marker contain Masonic or Knights Templar elements. Dan Brown's previous book, "Angels and Demons" was similar but involved the Illuminati. Another interesting read is "Orbis" by Scott Mackay. All three books deal with absolute mind control by religions and reminded me of the WTBS.

  Dec 15th WT - Our Watchfulness Takes on Greater Urgency

  when i picked up this copy of the wt, i couldn't believe what i saw in the two study articles.

  the first one is entitled "our watchfulness takes on greater urgency" and the second article is "prove yourselves ready for jehovah's day".. i'm not going to go into these articles in depth, as that is blondies job!

  but i will elaborate on a few points.. before i begin, let's consider a recent comment at the annual general meeting by bro barr, a gb member to put things into perspective:.
