  The Emerging 'Schizophrenic' Witness

  i have a 'loyal' witness relative suffering various watchtower-related trials, who, i believe, represents an emerging.

  new form of jehovah's witness.

  she seems to have a sort of 'spiritual schizophrenia'.

  So sad. Reminds me of a long term prisoner having the gates finally opened after doing his time and not wanting to return to the world outside. Some people lose something after letting the WTBS think for them for so long.

  Witnessing: Turning the Tables on Them

  a couple of weeks ago i started an irritable thread about the girl at work who gave out my home phone number -- from the firm's confidential internal phone list -- to an old friend i hadn't talked to in about 20 years.

  i smelled a set-up and made a stink at work about it.

  as far as i know, she was "talked to" and the subject was briefly mentioned at a staff meeting that i missed due to being out of town.. well, i thought about it for a few days and decided to give the old friend a call anyway.

  Thank you, Nina for the post. I haven't told the elder and his wife who still bring the mags every couple of months my true understanding of their history and all the info from this site. I don't think it'll change them. I am just burning to make them know the truth because I care about them alot. They always treat me very kindly even though it has been a while since I faded. They didn't even seem bothered about smoking and as far as I know never turned me in. (I'm quittin' anyway). Perhaps I've been df'd and don't know it or maybe I'm just considered inactive and they'll deal with it all later when they get me back. Thing is, I can never go back knowing what I know now. I guess the right thing would be to try to gently persuade them over time. I feel every bit as zealous for this new knowledge of the WTBS comedy of errors as I was for the "truth" back when. Interesting about Ray's response to you. I am happy he wrote you. I would love to read another book from him. CoC and In Search of were inspiring to me and were what I needed. I wish I had considered him 20 yrs ago. I hope his health is holding up OK and sometimes feel concerned about that. I would love to hear him speak or meet him. His books changed my life in time and no doubt helped my new marriage by avoiding my ever pressuring my wife (a not ever JW) to go back with me. Regards, David Carlton

  its amazing what a hold this religion can have on people.

  an old friend who used to post here under the handle collegegirl has apparently gone back to the darkside....i'd been seeing evidence of this here and there, so as a test i sent her some very apostate emails (scans of watchtower letters, interesting posts) and today i received the reply "i chose not to read them because i don't want to be bitter".....unbelievable.

  is it really easier to be brainless than to stand up for your rights as a human being????

  Got back from my sister's wedding on Monday (long)

  i had previously posted about my jw parents making my sister miserable over marrying a catholic...well, the wedding was on the 27th.

  my sister and her fiancee (now husband) went out of their way to make my ms stepfather and pioneer mother happy.

  he gave up a catholic wedding, they gave up a church wedding, they wrote their own vows and worked it to where the man performing the ceremony didn't do the prayer but my sisters husband did (so that he could pray "through" jesus).

  This reminded me of my own experience some years ago. My non- JW fleshly youngest brother was getting married and I was scheduled to be his best man in a wedding performed at a friend's house. He had been my best man some years prior. I had gotten married in the Community Church I had attended most of my life. I had been studying about 4 months and the elder conducting the study said he couldn't marry us. He couldn't be sure if we would stay together. (Lasted 28 years till she passed on--meanwhile marriages he performed disintegrated in 6 months).At any rate, back to my story. I was out in service with my elder friends (not the same one) and mentioned I was to be a best man. I did not know you couldn't do that. They informed me in no uncertain terms the reasons I couldn't. So, at the last minute my brother has to get another friend to do the honors. My non-JW mother just took it in stride. No problems just love. This is disgusting when I think of it. How much other family stuff I missed along with my wife and daughter. Thanks for your post.

  Question about Governing Body

  i remember flicking through my ex girlfriends copy of the "proclaimers" book back last year, and there was a page with the pictures of the gb at the time (roundabout 1992 with henschel, jaracz et al).

  apart from noticing that the gb was totally comprised of males (well, with the wt's almost neanderthalitic view of women, you wouldnt expect a female contingent within the gb would you?

  ), i noticed that they all seemed to be white, and, judging by some of the names, probably american.

  My Borganization Story

  i was 28 when i got borganized....i wish i could remember the names of the sisters that studied with me....one of 'em's name is barbara, the other one was a pig...guess they're not that memorable....but the plano congregation had not been started when i first got baptised or it had *just* been started in 1973....my best sis friend was carolyn nelson, a six feet tall sis with two kids, harris and april....i was really dumb and married the first elder that asked me....it was a total flop of a marriage, his teenaged son caused all sorts of problems for us.....i "ran away" from it and went back to the "world" for a while....i suppose because they hadn't gotten the "worldliness" out of me very well at the time....when i returned, they publicly reproved me and we divorced....his name was bob repp....he was an elder in the white rock congregation....i can remember a few names...the farmers, steve scott and his lovely red-headed wife, but that's all i remember..... .

  then i moved back down here with my older two children, where i was raised and later went back into the borganization....i moved to california in late 1988, got in an auto accident in late 1989, and everything went downhill from there, borganization-wise...i had seen so much cruelty from the platform....even a p.o.

  who graphically and sneeringly described explicitly...the sights, sounds and smells of alleged sexual acts between two pioneers, as he disf'd the pioneer sister, while she sobbed her heart out in front of the congregation and only reproved the pioneer bro.....made me wanna hurl....the elders treated me like a meadow muffin the whole time i was in cal.

  Too strong odds against even the big bang being random.. Something has to have influenced it. Just the odds of an object striking the earth at the right time to produce an orbital fragmenta which congealed into a moon to give the earth a very stable orbit and inclination to allow a climate conducive to life needs to be considered. There was something being tinkered with. Not neccesarily perfect every time. The only other plausible notion would be the many worlds concept in which every possible random possibility exists. This is just my current opinion which is probably somewhat simplistic. Thanks for your post and thoughts on this

  To JW's who believe WT is the"Truth"

  i have seen comments by jw's who support the notion that thier is a group of "special men" like russell that jehovah has selected to write down the "inspired" thoughts through watchtower and awake and other publications.. .

  first of all, the bible tells us that god "cannot lie" and every "inspired utterances are true".

  that being the case, how can the truth of god originate in lies by a man, russell who was heavily involved in the occult.?

  Often when the WTS uses the word "prophet" concerning themselves, you will notice that the word is surrounded by quotation marks, indicating not a seer, but a prophet in a quasi-sense. It is just like the Billy Graham is called a prophet (see "A Prophet With Honor : The Billy Graham Story" by William Martin)
  and another Church leader, Klemp (see "Autobiography of a Modern Prophet"
  by Harold Klemp). The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language uses the word *prophet* also as "A person gifted with profound moral insight and exceptional powers of expression" and "The chief spokesperson of a movement or cause." This is how the word prophet is used of these men in a quasi-sense, just like JW's use it.
  Again, we, unlike the Mormons, do not refer to each other as prophets.
