It made me feel really sad to watch that. Both of them looked uncomfortable doing something that their gut probably tells them is wrong but their brainwashing makes them do. The younger guy seemed way out of his depth. It makes me sad to think of the well intentioned elders I knew, are in my family, behaving so harmfully.

Complete ban on smoking in public places just passed in England
by ballistic infrom summer after next, smoking will be banned in any public place including pubs and clubs in england.. although i plan on giving up again, i still don't agree with government interfering like this.
they had previously.
made proposals for some pubs to remain licensed for smoking which i thought would have been a workable compromise.

immigrant Muslim population
I think you'll find a lot of the rioters in Clichy-sous-Bois were French, though maybe of French Colonial parentage.

How many here were homeschooled?
by Highlander in.
i'm quite new here, so i apologize if this topic has been covered.. the reason i ask this,, i was raised in the midwest.
a majority(more than 50%) of the children at the local congregation were homeschooled.. the end result was that these homeschooled kids had social problems, found it difficult making and keeping friends and were completely out of touch with the world.. as these kids became adults, rarely did they stay on as witnesses and usually went to the other extreme,, you know the old saying,, sex drugs and rock n' roll..

What 'Brokeback Mountain' and JWs have in common
by Peter123 inthe story is beyond excellent.
every line is so well crafted and the story, published in the new yorker magazine in 1997, is much more than two young men falling in love.
one of the major themes of the movie is fear.

I thought the short story was excellent and didn't think the film would improve upon it. I was half right, it didn't improve upon the central relationship, but it did convincingly flesh out the wives characters. Maybe because I'd already read the story I remained unaffected by Jack & Ennis but felt totally gutted for Lureen and Alma.
Nice comparison though Pete.

In the case of this especially provocative subject of minority practices, why would a Christian desire to interfere, when it is allegedly the Christian that is in the minority? Further, if they are to busy themselves in politics at all, surely it should be to the extent of preserving their own rights to worship and live their life to the standards they desire, rather than impose their standards on everyone else?
Are no Christians to reply to this?
Maybe, as Witnesses, they got tired of 'waiting on Jehovah' so now think it's important that their religious views are expressed politically. Does that indicate a lack of faith in god?
