I am sorry
by Big Tex ini sincerely and unrservedly apologize for any condescending behavior on my part.
being an idiot, and expressing myself as poorly as i do, i am capable of the most outrageously stupid posts.
i look back on what i have said, and i cringe at how stupid i sound.

Big Tex,
I can't see where you have to apologize for your posts.

Would you wear a crucifx?
by orangefatcat inmy wonderful husband knows that i have been a religious person most of my life and while he despises jehovah's witnesses with a passion, he knows that i still believe in god and christ.
he being a greek orthodox and a wonderful human being he bought me a beautiful crucifix of jesus on a cross.
it is black stone and silver and says on the back of the cross, alpha and omega.

Restrictions
by ozziepost inthere is a practice among jws of applying restrictions to individual members.
it forms part of the judicial process and, although having no scriptural basis, is applied automatically to erring ones who are judged to be repentant.. so, for a period of time, usually up to 12 months, the individual is not allowed to share in commenting at meetings, offering public prayer, appearing on the platform in congregation meetings, or in serving as an auxiliary pioneer.. as with any man-made law, difficulties arise from this practice.
although no announcement has been made to the congregation, individual congregation members can have their curiosity aroused.. for example, take the real-life situation where a sole parent has been placed on restrictions by a judicial committee.

What you have outlined shows that 'private reproof' does not really exist. Goodness, even before the elders meet with you word gets around. I mean, if the "friends" see 2 or 3 brothers going with you into that dreaded conference room, how long before people talk about you? 15 seconds or so?
What about the all knowing elders wife? I doubt that my hall was the only one where they had all the dirt on the "reproved" ones. I remember, as a teenager, hearing private information from an elders son! So much for confidentiality.

hard to dealwith ?because since that time, every 6 weeks I get a donation request. I try to help when I can and I mentioned this to a fellow former dub he said that he could never do that. He had no problem living with his GF and abandoned borg teachings but still would not give blood. Would you donate blood? -

Would you ever go back to an organized religion after leaving the Witnesses
by MicStroz ini was wondering just what the percentage would be on those who .
have left and at some point turn to another group or church.. i know from my own trials that i will never be a part of any.
organization.

Why do so many former dubs seem to think that the watchtower is the only window into Christianity and since (as has been aptly demonstrated here) it has been proven false that all Christianity is false? It seems that their indoctrination is so thorough that the thought of attending a church is beyond consideration even to those who have long since dismissed their teachings.
Does the fact that their teachings are erroneous prove that there is no creator? Do we have to fall into the ?there is no where else to go? mentality? I can see how the watchtower experience would turn off one to any ?organized religion? but it is important to remember that their out of context accurate knowledge? is from a tricked up bible and their negative view of ?Christendom? is based on stereotype. Remember how eye-opening it was to discover that ?worldly? people are not all residents of Sodom and Gomorrah? Could they have been equally wrong about ?Christendom??
I have been attending a church for a couple of years now and am still amazed at the differences: There is no central authority, Its ok to have differences of opinion, There is no constant pressure to live in lockstep unity and some of their budget goes toward helping those in the community that haven?t taken a vow of organizational loyalty. We were actually encouraged to not restrict our association to fellow church members so as not to adopt a Pharisee type attitude. Yes, their full time pastoral staff has to eat too so I have experienced the horror of a collection plate. If I don?t chose to attend, I am still a Christian. Hopefully God will forgive me for attending attired in something other than from the Kmart formalwear department.
Why cant I paste my entire post?!!! -
