Tax Phobia?

anyone afraid of doing their taxes?

i just helped out a lady that is scared to death to do her taxes.

she won't use an accountant (doesn't really need to) and won't try to do her own so i sat down with her and showed her how to use turbo tax on line.

I did mine over a month ago.. used turbo tax, just like I have for the last 4 years. I recieved my federal refund, but I'm still waiting on state. Turbo tax makes it pretty easy.. I was worried because I had closed out my 401k last year, but it was a breeze.

Would You Recommend A Person Remain A Virgin Before Marriage???

being raised as a good witness, i was a virgin until i was married.

of course, the scriptures say one must not commit fornication.

however, i know most teens have sex well before marriage.

How do you think I ended up married to a Gay JW?? If we had lived together before we got married.. it never would have happened.

I firmly believe that not just having sex, but living together before you get married should be required.. or at least highly recommended.

ok, first off, please don't shoot the messenger here.

the dateline show on jws hiding pedophiles was one of several "defining moments" in my process of questioning "the truth".

it disgusted me.

I don't understand what "change" has occured in the "two witness" rule? There still has to be either two victims or a secondary witness for a single victim.. right? So it's ok if a pervert only molests one child and no one sees?? (I know you don't agree with that, I'm just sayin..)

If one child is molested.. that's one too many.. and no 6 y/o should have to "prove" their case before an elder body.. that's just demented. Have your wife put herself in that childs shoes while the elders ask where he or she was touched and how many times and did they "enjoy" it. This is what the police are for, they are trained to handle this, they have professionals who know how to help an abuse victim tell their side without further traumatising the kid. The elders should have no part in any of it once there has been an accusation. If they want to deal with the accused when the law is done with them... fine, but they should never question a child, they aren't qualified!

Ok, that rant is out of the way. Any questions?

Night Rider

well that was an interesting journey!

i just got home after riding home from a friend's house, where i'd been helping them with a little decorating.

it is a clear and beautiful night, so i thought i would open her up a little, but neglected to look at the speedo.... ...until i hit a short piece of undulating piece of road and found the front wheel wobbling.

My brother had a dog run out in front of him while he was taking a corner at a "high rate of speed" (he never did say how fast) He laid is bike down and went for a slide.. walked out of it and only later realized his ankle was broken.

My dad has a couple of biker stories that would make your butt pucker... but they would take a while to write out.. and he tells it so much better than I do. The best one involves someone not hooking up his brake line..

My best "aw shit" story is in a car, so I'm not sure it counts.. but I was doing about 55mph when I realized I was on solid black ice.. I don't think I took a single breath for at least two miles.. cars off to the left.. more off to the right.. just keep goin.. don't hit the brakes, don't shift..don't breath... (I was only doing 55 because I was being cautious on a cold night)

i was born in 1965, the same year that malcolm x was assassinated.

my father had committed suicide a few months into my mother's pregnancy so we lived with her parents until she married again when i was about 18 months old.

I find myself identifying with the child that you were. I was teased for my ability to sit and watch a spider for an hour. Or for playing with salamanders. Or for spending more time up trees than on on the ground. I was a "reader." I loved to read more than anything. I would read in the car, on the bus, walking to get the mail.. especially while up those trees that I loved to climb. I read the Narnia series so many times I considered the characters to be friends, when I didn't have any "real" ones.

I, too, lived in fear that someone would discover that I knew less. Less than what or whom, I don't know.. but less. I still, to this day, will pretend to knowledge I don't have, rather than admit ignorance.. silly, isn't it?

We may have taken very different spiritual paths, but I greatly admire your faith and your ability to stand up for what you believe in.

How frustrating!! My Ex was always putting us in the negative and writing bad checks, drove me nut's!! We had overdraft fees every month. I would always try to point out (nicely, without being a "nag") that we couldn't afford this or that, but he never listened. and I was a good little jw wifey, so I couldn't even say "I told you so!"

Isn't it nice when they become "ex-es" and it's not our problem anymore? Now we can sit back and shake our heads and say "I told you so!!"

i've been married for 2 years and i should have been more open to the board.

however, i'm getting a divorce on sunday, the same time i have to go back to the meetings with her.

i'll update everybody on the status of my marriage.

You need to learn to share!! Don't you know we thrive on gossip?? We are almost as bad as JW's with our need for gossip! and yet you stingily withhold juicy stuff like this from us?? Oh man, that's just rude!!
