Country Girl In Toronto, Canada

well hell...if this hasn't been one of the most .

last november's toronto apostafest was pretty cool, but meeting country girl for the first time, well....she's just a freakin' darling!

Well hell...if this hasn't been one of the most encounters I've have experienced, well I don't know what else compares.

Last November's Toronto Apostafest was pretty cool, but meeting Country Girl for the first time, well....she's just a freakin' darling!

I LOVE HER!

Her husband John, he's great. He also had me in stitches more than once. He's great.

iiz2cool, myself (Rayzorblade) , Uzzah, Country Girl & husband, have had some time to hang out. It's been great.

Hopefully, we'll be adding Mortons68 to the mix this week as well.

If you haven't met COUNTRY GIRL: she's a blast! I haven't laughed so hard, in so long.

A few of you on here know her, have communicated with her: she speaks highly of all of you. Yes, even the wacky eastcoast Canucks (my addage).

I hope to get down to Texas and meet-up with the folks whom I've found not only supportive, but warm and kind, without even asking for a shoulder to cry on: they were there.

Country Girl and hubby are off to Niagara Falls today (Monday).

I don't care where you live. Even if you're a sarcastic bastard; ambiguous lout.....yet, still wanna come and celebrate with myself and my partner Drew, let me know.

For those of you of the hetero persuasion, let me tell you this: there'll be some very incredible hetero folks at this party. Be forewarned, if you have issues with OUR union, they'll give you the middle-finger-salute. So save your a$$hole remarks and enjoy some rock n' roll/punk rock/rap & hip hop, great food and wonderful people.

It won't be happening right away.

But why not get your name in now?

Yeru: my offer still stands. If you'd like to attend. You'd find the event probably a blast! Good food, good drink, great people, excellent music and an environment encompassed by a warm and welcoming spirit. This goes for everyone.

Bible thumpers have to go through our doormen/women. They won't hesitate to show you the door you entered.

I'm Getting Married

Just in case anyone was wondering/curious.

It's now official: I am now married.

Yes, we finally 'tied the knot'.

We decided to do it. We went to Toronto City Hall, applied for a Marraige License without ANY problem whatsoever.

The staff were fantastic! In fact, it all seemed: too easy.

The office where where we were to book our ceremony were also very accomodating.

We booked an appointment for Saturday, July 3, 2004 (6:45 p.m. EST).

Our Officiator was beyond fantastic: she was EXCELLENT!!! We were treated like two human beings and with the utmost respect and dignity. It was wonderful.....and yes, I was very nervous, we both were.

We had two witnesses; photos were taken, then we hung around and conversed with the Justice Of The Peace and the Clerk. It was great!

Eventually, we'll have a real party: ceremony, dinner, drinks and dancing. This will all take place once the legalities etc., (immigration) are in-place. I will keep you posted.

The union is recognized here in the province of Ontario.

My American partner will eventually move up here (Canada). In case some of you were curious, our union is not recognized in his home state, let alone most/all of the United States. Not an issue for me, as I am not moving there. My partner (Drew) wishes to immigrate here. He loves Canada.

Always room for one more.

We're married!

how sorry i was to hear from dansk-he is going through a very difficult time.. i would like all prayers, thoughts, please keep this in mind ____ for me!!!!.

the sad news he has cancer.it is lymphoma!!!

they are waiting on the results of the biopsy before determining treatment..... he didnt want me to say anything at first- as he feels you all have your own problems & he didnt want to upset anyone-because he says "they are dear friends".

Dansk, thank you for keeping us updated on your on-going progress.

I believe attitude is everything. Despite results; I'd have a reaction of some sort, but I'd desperately try to keep my attitude upbeat. Seems that you are doing this and doing it well.

Another interesting aspect of this situation is your interest in your diet. I found that what I ate, is what I was. So in some odd way, I started to alter my diet. Dropped meat from my diet, then started consuming healthier alternatives and lo! and behold, my cholesterol levels dropped, my blood pressure went to within normal ranges again. It's all good.

Exercise is helpful. I'm glad a bicycle, so I've been cycling 30-50 kms a day. What a difference in my physical appearance. It's never too late.

I'm confident you'll get through this with positive results. Your attitude will be what really makes a difference.

Does Anyone Else Ever Encounter This???

i have been in a relationship for about 2-1/2 years now, and it seems that every time we have an argument or disagreement, it usually turns out to be my fault according to the other person, and my upbringing as a jw is always brought into the light, and also my depressive moods, this person knowing background of my exit from the org.

and the feelings it has caused me.

it feels as though they are using this as a "scapegoat", because even if that person comes home in a bad mood, or has to do something that they don't like, and an argument insues, i automatically am made the "bad guy", even though i was previously in a good mood before things started, and am reminded by this person how i must not be taking my antidepressants, or am thinking too much about my past, etc.

I don't know the person, but well.....having been down the road more than a few times in the last 20+ years, I can tell you: ammunition, known/unknown, is ammunition nonetheless.

I don't know you from jack squat, but from what I am reading without any personal association with either of you; you being a former JW, well.....having been down the road of 'oh you were a JW' blah-blah-blah round of pot shots, well...eventually, I was able to deflect them.

How?

I'm not suggesting you do this. Again, I don't know you or your partner.

I've said this to straight/bi/gay folks: "True love can never be used as a weapon".

Think about it.

If one participates in the verbal/physical/mental abuse: participates in its perpetuation.

If one can discuss or deal with these issues one-on-one, I take my hat off to you both.

Forgive my candor, but well.....I couldn't resist having had 20+ years outside of the JWs, most of which were without any internet support, or support period.

it's 5:43 p.m. (est) and we here in toronto are under a tornado warning.

apparently, one of several storms churning overhead, has rotation.. brampton/chincuagousy area has been hit; folks say it sounded like a frieght train, cars/trucks thrown about with trees down, homes damaged.

the sky out where i am is green and churning with weird cloud formations (east end).. folks in southern ontario: keep your eyes/ear peeled.. who says a tornado cannot hit a large city: well, i hope not, but there you have it.

I know, this pales in comparison to our neighbour to the south (United States of America). But we have way less a population base, and some tornadoes strike areas that are unpopulated. The USA, is 9/10 times more populated than Canada.

Also, their geographical location dictates alot of what they go through.

If there's any one nation that knows about tornadoes: it's Americans.

Canadians, sure, we get hit hard too sometimes. You can bet your bottom dollar we're taking in some information from our neighbours south of us. We'd be foolish not to. Considering we're on this awesome continent: NORTH AMERICA. We'd be wise to pay attention to our buddies south of the border, considering they see tornadoes far more frequently than we do.

Some tornadoes have been spawned in the United States and have carried on right across the border into Canada: in southern Ontario "WE KNOW". Especially when our Michigan buddies are gettting hit, it's almost a given we're in for it next.

It is particularly odd, we've had more tornado watches/warnings way earlier than we'd expect, and more frequently as Mortons68 has indicated. She's southwest of me about 200 kms., and in the firing line of the Michigan storms when they race across the border.

Tornadoes don't have to clear customs/immigration.

Know your safety proceedures. I had to relearn this recently. Who'd've thought?!?

**PS: Aztec, if I'm correct, Flint, Michigan experienced one of the worst tornadic outbreaks back in the mid 1950s, considered part of the USA's Top 10 Worst Tornado Disasters. Don't know if your folks/relatives know about that storm, but I read about it (Genesee County, Michigan), it was awful. I saw some on-line pictures, made me cringe. That same storm raced over to Lambton County, Ontario. It ripped up part of Sarnia, Ontario (killing 7 people in 1953):

CG: my dear. Honestly, if a tornado was bearing down on me, I'd be SOL.

When the 'tornado warning' went out, I realized, for a moment. I had no real course of action 'to take cover'.

I live in a 3 floor townhouse/split apartment unit. I'm on the top floor. If the tornado bore down upon me, I'd be screwed. I'd have to grab my two birds and head into an interior room (storage room) or maybe the bathroom (it has an eastern facing brick wall). Still, depending upon the strength: I could be OK, or a statistic.

The rotating column of clouds I observed were east of me, but still very scary.

We've had F0's to F4's here in Canada. Never an F5.

Canada is second only to the United States for tornado activity.
