A thread for those who have no support system or a place to go due to shunning.

reading the recent thread about the young lady who just ended her life got me thinking that maybe there could be a thread that is easily accessible to anyone who may need help due to homelessness from losing their families and friends to shunning.

too often i hear stories about people who have lost everything, and have no where to go, and at the same time having no type of support system.

unfortunately there are some who are so lost that they feel that there are no options besides taking their own life.. i think that a website that matches people in need to others who can help in some way would be a great idea.

As you know, I don't come on here that often, but I will scan the Active Topics to see what's shaking.

What a pleasant surprise. That is very unselfish and extremely kind of you and your partner to offer such trust.

It can be a brutal existence post-JW disfellowshipping.

I hope anyone reading this that is in a horrible bind will take some of these words and offers to heart. Yes, it's embarrassing, but these people DO understand.

Belbab: glad to read that you did receive an e-mail from this individual and they were not a Watchtower mole. Trust is a key factor despite some very kind individuals who have been taken advantage of previously.

Hopefully, the legitimate ones get through and find solace in a 'safe place'.

i am acting as an in-between for a good friend who is not part of this site.

his family were a century involved in the wtbts in the lower bc mainland; not to mention nw washington state.. he is no longer a member of the jw's.

we're great friends; i knew him 25 years ago, long before i discovered this site (love it simon: yes, still all those years later).. anyways, he wants to get rid of bound volumes from approximately from the years: 1940 - until - 2000.. he asked me to intervene.

i have been repeatedly pleaded with to read the books of ray franz in my short stay on this board.

apparently these are all the all-powerful, wt crushing arguments, that lead so many to leave jw's and become ruthless opposers of god's people.

we can discuss any claims/statements/scriptural arguments presented in either of his books, as long as it somehow proves jehovah's witnesses are not god's people.

ziddina: you are so correct; information found inside these bound volumes most certainly can bite the WTBTS's bum.

I had a great reply, but when I hit Submit: error message - thus I lost my post. Damn!

Anyways, I have received a couple of PMs. There's potentially upwards of 800 to 850 bound volumes. I do believe they're all together. There may be a volume or two missing, I am not sure, but there's definitely enough to give the most curious questioning JW or ex-JW, much incredible information that they might otherwise never have access to.

Suggestions about ebay and yard sales, simply were not of any interest to my friend. He wanted them to go to someone who will use them and use them constructively, or at least take care of them.

If you need any more information, contact me via my inbox. Do not post any personal information here (common sense would dictate). I will be checking in here for the next several days. Thank you.

I was welcomed kindly by many here on this forum back in January 2003. I had been an exJW for nearly 20 years before I found this forum.

To think how we ever connected with 'doubters' and 'questioning' ones back before there was the: internet.

All the best to you. Thank you for sharing your story. There's so much on this site it will make your eyes pop out at times. But, it will be enlightening anyways.

Congratulations on your sobriety. I'd say "Cheers" but heck, I can do that with a can of Diet Coke.

I AM THE NEW MEETUP ORGANIZER FOR EX-JW's IN MICHIGAN

hi all you fellow michiganders.. i wanted to make you aware that the meetup site entitled, "ex-jehovah's witnesses of michigan" will not be disolved.

i decided since today was the last day before it would be no more, i should step up, and so i gladly did.. seeing that there has not been one meetup since it's inception, i plan to change that.

i know there is at least one person from here who is registered with our meetup.

I really enjoyed the gathering we had back in September 2003. Great bunch of folks there in the greater Detroit area.

Finally Free and another Canadian and myself went down and had a wonderful time.

folks here all have one thing in common: they are somehow associated with jws, either were one, are married to one, have a relative who is one, has a romantic interest in one, are are currently one.

perhaps you are not one, but something about jws bugs you enough to have found this forum, and read it and contribute to it.

I had been out of the JW's for approximately 20 years when I found THIS site. I had visited other sites, but I still bitter and combative. So I just dropped off of those other exJW sites.

In January 2003, I discovered what was then loosely known as: JWD.

I hadn't been very interested in what was going on in the organization I had once foolishly believed in. Part of me was also curious to know: 'are there any people that I used to know, also in my predicament?'. Surprisingly, there were. It has been great becoming reacquainted with people I once rubbed shoulders at the Kingdom Hall with; now ex-Jehovah's Witnesses.

This site also did lay to rest some things I did not know about. Various JW beliefs and prophecy changes; the 1914 (This Generation) and many other tidbits, which just basically sealed the deal for me. There was a time where I had that inkling of: 'what if they were right?'.

Thankfully, that was quickly put to rest and well, this site had plenty to do with that.

I also got to meet some decent folks over the many years. I went to one Apostafest in Detroit (September 2003). That was fun.

It's interesting popping in here periodically and view the many, many new members. It's also hilarious to see some of the same old characters and nutjobs as well.

Great site overall. It's the bees knees for questioning Jehovah's Witnesses and liberated ones as well.

No more 3-day DCs starting in 2013?

apologies if there is another recent thread on this, but i have heard from 4 different people in 3 different geographic areas (including someone who does advance work for the dcs), that beginning in 2013 the three day dc program will be replaced by a second two-day circuit assembly.

some people were passing the info along like a secret, others seemed to think that everyone already knew.. if everyone in j-dub land is already talking about this, how is it not all over this forum??.

anyway, can anyone confirm or deny?.

I drop by occasionally, and it never ceases to amaze me the latest happenings with WTBTS.

I remember 34 years ago attending a 5 day International Assembly in Montreal. It was a battle to keep cool during those hot days in early July 1978.

Then attending 4 day assemblies in the summer. Last District Assembly I attended was in Portland, Maine in July 1983.

It's been a long time; trust me no longing for those long grueling talks; drowsiness and the food.

Read about the pending law suit Skeeter1. It will be interesting to see what happens with this one, but I'll bet some 'new light' has been shed.

Any bets as to when it will be reduced to 2 days?

For the many years I was a Jehovah's Witness. I was happiest ONLY during assemblies. Why?

It's obvious of course, but when you were 'then' around similarly like-minded individuals, it was sweet harmony bliss.

For less than approximately 72 hours inconsecutively, yes.

Overall: NO!
