Does praying "work"?

has anybody got any hard evidence that asking for something, through prayer, actually gives them what they were asking for?.

You are so welcome I only wish I could say the words that could make this less of a burden. I do want to say the following;

The Jehovah Witnesses are fucked in the head! They could not find thier ass with a roadmap! If you put what they do in perspective whom they service is quite clear. But their followers could not be more blind if they poked thier own eyes out. I believe what they do to children is criminal. If they want to live in a world of fear and rape and skulldugery that is thier business. But, I would like to see more kids sue thier parents for emotional distress. Their only crime is being born to these jerk offs. If you were my son I promise that I would not abandon you. If even my father raped you God might have mercy I would not.

Look deep inside your own heart. Ask yourself in that place inside you if you think that it was your fault. You were a child. You should have been protected by the bastard that did that to you. He betrayed you and God. I would say the religion as well but they are more concerned about their god like right to pardon than justice. They suck eggs!

We have choices in what we want to do in this world. That means that we can become someone satan fears or someone even christ would admire. When I am angry even a the devil is in fear. But I also have a heart that can be as helpful as any angel. We need to look more at the horizion and each other for help. We need to stop looking up for answers to problems that we know are clearly wrong.

there have been many postings regarding the possible war with iraq.

there are many strong apposing views, as to be expected.. i personally am going to thank all those who are in the military; my hat is off to you, and i respect what you do, and i am very thankful.

you are the ones that must go out there and defend our freedoms.. i don't think most people desire war, but sometimes there seems to be little choice.

just heard on the news the spanish navy got a tip from us intelligence and with that info seized a north koran ship loaded with 12 scud missiles on its way to yemen, with a final destination of iraq or iran.

look like bush called it correctly, an axis of evil indeed.. .

I know that many people have died so that I can raise my children in a peace filled land Path. It (lack of violence) is not everywhere in the US by far. But step by step we loose the common sense principles that make us great. I fight for them. Like in Virginia a CCP is a given to all law abiding citizens, it's not a question. Crime is of the lowest in the Nation. Take LA where only movie stars and politians get them and look at what it does, crime is ramped. Some things are worth fighting for, some things are worth dying for. Peace is better. But peace at any cost is not freedom. At least that peace is to high a price for me. America is not attacked because most Governments know what will happen. And, when they are in trouble it is America who people turn to for help. Maybe today that is not your Country, but I for one think that American Super power politics (With the UN) beat out the alternatives. The thing is my patriotism does not ignore that there are clear areas that need to be improved upon.(That does not even begin to underscore what I mean)

But to some husband or wife or child back home your life is worth more than politics.

Yes Path it is. But conflict is sometimes not avoidable. The dubs in my life made it crystal clear. They see no reason why anyone should have a gun in public. I explained that criminals unfortunatly have them remember the Texas restaurant. And there was a Mcdonalds I remember. (And more.) I explained that many crimes are prevented by armed civilians. Which he said "YA BUT THEN YOU ARE TAKING THE LAW INTO YOUR OWN HANDS!" My response was yes but if you were in the restaurant and were the next to be shot and I stopped the criminal by killing him I would save your live. He said "SO WHAT THAT DOESN'T MATTER!" (It would matter to me, but hey I am kinda selfish that way.)

The National Defense issue is the same thing; Only bigger. Iraq will not be much of a concern. Do you think that the UN is wrong?

Dubs want to control your head more and break up families.

Morons contol you physically more but centralize strong family.

It does not matter though. ALL authoritarian contol groups hate me. They see my not letting them contol me as pride. 2000 years ago a guy had the same problem.

R. One thing that does get me about America is so many of my kind feel 9/11 is all about us. We fail to recognize how many countries it effected. The world stopped for a brief moment. How I wish I could bottle that. The thing is now we are back to looking at all that is wrong. If the US will intervine then the rest of the world can enjoy that milk and honey without having to pay the price that the US does. What I just shake my head at is the middle finger given over how in the US we have choices that most of Eroupe would rather subjegate to the State. That is not what I want I choose to have the right to go it on my own because I can do it better than the Government can dole out to me. Those things that are in the best interest of a central government I submit too and say thank you. National defense is one. Socialism always disapoints those that is serves. Reganomics was a disaster for the same reason. People will only do that which serves themselves best. And there are those who refuse to take care of themselves, not can't, won't.

didn't say capitalism is bad...i said uncontrolled capitalism. right now you are healthy and you obviously have a good job...if you belong to this category than yes the US is a good place to be in many respects (well maybe not climate in most parts, and not security but otherwise)...but what happenes if you get sick? you loose your job you loose your insurance with it and thyn the game is over. besides what happens to the millions of people who are just not as strong as you are (physical and mental maybe)...they are left behind in this society. so with all due respect i have to say that the european way of having controlled capitalism where sick, old, weak people are not just left to themselfs is the better way to go.

I am in perfect health and I work for myself. And when I was 18 I went to work in a nursing home and saw how the "greatest generation" was treated like cattle. It disgusted me. I have dedicated my life to making a better way for the sick and the infermed. I can do it for half the cost of the institutions at a profit. And the quality of life is uncomparable. Capitalism works becouse it is the best system that there is. To prevent what happened in Russia there is a Welfare state, which you have completly ignored. And there are stong Unions in this Country which you have ignored. And there is the consumer who is the greatest power of all. I see a lot of protesting going on in France, are they just drunk? I assume they are not partying.

just so you know where i am coming from, a little background: my wife's father, bill, is 78. he has been a witness for almost 50 years, was an elder, is of the anointed and used to know a few people from way back when (including a couple from the gb).

if anything, he began to drink more.

yet more than once, he has gone behind my back and gotten a drink(s).

Sometimes you cannot help those that do not want your help. Lot could not save his wife and Noah could only save his family. Is he seeing a Psychiatrist? It sounds like he needs one. He is on a path of self destruction. I would never subject my children to seeing someone like that in my house. Loving someone does not mean letting them abuse or being a doormat. He needs therapy and maybe he needs to be somewhere that they can monitor them closely. It is your choice what to do but I can recommend that you and your family get professional help too. You have been through so much and it can only help to give you valuable tools to get through all of this as well as your children. (If you do then good)
