"Thinking Ability " and The WTBTS
by Siddhashunyata ini recall an emphasis on "thinking ability" coming from the wtbts.
i believe the point was that a mind trained in bible principles would have excellent "thinking ability".. does any one recall if the wtbts ever discussed intuition or if they ever touched on ideas that implied a mental process that was more rapid, and more penetrating?
something that led to deeper, quicker understanding than the reasoning process itself ?

As I recall it was more about memorizing the Wt. line and being able to parrot it back to those who questioned. Any thinking outside those lines was frowned upon. It also bordered on 'running ahead of Jehovah's organization'.

Paid Holidays: should they or shouldnt they?

i work with 3 of them & they even accept the annual holiday bonus as a gift from the company.....hmmmmm.

When I was a witness, I'd fill in for other techs who wanted to be off on the holiday and they'd cover for me when I needed a day off. Too bad most of my days off were wasted at assemblies. But not anymore!

2003 International Convertion NEW Arrangement
by RubaDub ini have heard that there will be an announcement of a new arrangement for brothers to receive answers quickly to questions regarding the organization, doctrines or general issues.. instead of having to write a letter, mail it and wait for a response, there will be a new system that allows a person to call the society directly and get an answer over the phone.
with all of the events currently in the news regarding the organization, i was told this was in response to complaints from both brothers and those sincere interested ones that the response time via regular mail is too long.. as i understand it, the system will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
all the caller will need to do is dial the special number (it will be listed in all publications and flash periodically at the bottom of the screen in all new videos) and be put directly in contact with a person to discuss the issue.. there will be various topic lines such as doctrines, general comments, the daily text, secret sins i am trying to overcome, etc.

I'm surprised that they don't require a publisher to turn in the old publications when they pick up a new one at the literature counter! Then they could get them out of circulation and only folks who think for themselves...apostates?...would have some continuity of teachings.
Maybe they'll bring this up at the International Convention.....

i began studying january 2001. i had met a jw man that i truly fell in love with and found that i would at least look into the religion to see if it was for me.
i began studying with his sister, till she consciously no longer felt that she could continue studying with me, due to the fact that she did not approve of her brother dating me, since i was not a jw.

Thank you, Jacqueline, for raising this question. If there was love in the organization and among the individuals in the congregation I would still be attending meetings and going in the field service.
