My Ghost Experience This Morning
by rem ini had a terrifying experience this morning and i'm writing about it as a lesson on how we perceive things.
this type of thing has happened to me several times in my life, but since it just happened again this morning, and ghosts seem to be a topic of interest on this board, i thought i'd share it.. i was staying at a friend's house while she was away.
this place is an old apartment complex built in the 1920's in san francisco.

I guess the landing portion of the mission is thought of as a 'piece of cake' as much of it is under computer control, supposedly free from the dangers encountered during the launch phase. What a tragedy! I pray they didn't know what happened on board and that the 7 didn't suffer.
There are 3 people still on the Int'l Space Station. What will happen to them if NASA suspends shuttle flights as they did after the Challenger disaster? Warrigal

Jesus told his apostles that he would be with them all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.....apparently the apostles were not part of the WTS.
I don't blame God or Jesus Christ for what this org. has done. Its their own doctrines and teachings that condemn them.

Thanks, rem, for explaining about sleep paralysis. I've had 2 episodes of that but not in over 25 years.
Has anyone had experiences of an animal in the room with you reacting to the presence of 'something'? I have, and was curious about the circumstances of other experiences.

In Memory of Onyx
by SpiceItUp inmy mother helped me bury my cat onyx tonight.
his neck was broken by our neighbors dog.
unknown to us it happened on sat (when he went missing) and they buried him without checking around with anyone.

Dear Spice, there is no such thing as 'just a cat'. Creatures of the feline persuasion are very special and beloved. At one time they were worshiped as gods. We are so fortunate for having them pass through our lives and leave something of the magic that the Almighty gave them.
Let the tears flow....you will always have memories of Onyx and he will always remember you.

Are You A Happy "Apostate"?
by minimus insince you've left the "truth", are you now, finally, happy?
-
Warrigal
Yes, I'm happier out than in. I don't have to associate with superficial 'family' and I'm free to read what I want, when I want without someone condemning me.
Early mornings are special as I can pray to God as the sun comes up and I can thank him for the beautiful earth He's given us. He doesn't care about my service record.
No need to remember the latest buzz words and phrases. I got counciled by an elder's wife when I let slip that I read something on the bulletin board. Of course this was on a Thursday....named for a pagan god, as I recall.
All in all, being out is better than being in. Warrigal

Hi Rub-a-dub and Gamaliel; I too remember the song 'Dedication'. It seems they always played it at the assemblies and conventions after the baptismal talk. The times I remember, it was played by a live orchestra.

Things That Drove You CRAZY About The Elders
by minimus ini was always amazed by the certain elders that really got into giving heavy counsel, while, they themselves, needed to take their own advice.you know, the elder that always picked on the families that weren't perfect, and was the first to volunteer to give the local needs talk on how to bring up your kids.
meanwhile, the elder's own children were smoking and dating "unbelievers".
and i always smirked when the theocratic ministry school overseer gave tough counsel on timing and the use of word-whiskers and pronunciation, while always violating his own criticisms............what drove you crazy??

My husband and I were sitting in the KH behind an elder and his wife during the Ministry School segment. Throughout the meeting they whispered back and forth to each other, not once paying attention to what was going on from the platform.
This same elder got up and gave a talk in the Service Meeting about how the meetings were so important to him!!!!
My husband and I looked at each other, smothered a laugh and walked out of the meeting. He never went back. I stayed for a month or two and left also. I was trying to find out why the meetings were so important.....ha ha ha ha

Am I alone in thinking this way?
by whyhideit inmy wife and i were talking about something the other day while we were driving and we were discussing some point about boards like this one.
boards that are populated by ex-jws.
in the conversation we got to wondering some things, and wondered if others felt or wondered the same.

I think one of the interesting points about this board is that my association with the witnesses was somewhat isolated. Small congregation in rural area..
I've found that many of the things that caused me to question the teachings are universal. People in the big cities and all over the world experienced similar things and have spoken about them. For me, this confirms my doubts about the org.
I was fortunate in that my husband suggested that I not dismiss my 'worldly' friends. I guess I could be accused of leading a double life as I interacted with friends and neighbors on a normal level. Having them as truly been a blessing as my loving brothers and sisters have turned their backs on me.
