i'm wondering if i should just "come out of the closet" and tell my family i don't believe it anymore and da myself or don't make any noise and fade out?
what are the benefits or problems with either choice?

In my opinion, and this is strictly my opinion, I feel that God will exact revenge upon an organization that hijacked his name and pretended to speak in his stead. I don't want my name written in their book when He begins the destruction. Thats why I chose to send in a DA letter. It makes it very clear that I want no part of an organization that covers up child sexual abuse with lies that hurt the victims even more.
This is a satisfying solution to me. It may not be for everyone.
i finally got the courage to post on another thread - so figured i would introduce myself.
as i mentioned in other thread i have been df'd for about 9-10 yrs.
i was raised in the "truth" - although neither of my parents were never really stellar examples of good jw's.

when i listen to anything at the meetings, it is with a critical eye.
i really can't stand going, especially today.
did you feel that the meetings were grating and extremely irritating, just before you stopped going altogether?
Cheers to you, joy2bfree! How on earth did you slip your reading material past the nosy elders? Would've loved to take a laptop but surely would have been censured for that.
Our meetings were dull and boring with no respite and no opportunity to sneak off to a video game arcade. The KH was in a residential area with nothing to escape to. No windows to look out of either.

i've never passed my test, never needed to because i lived near the city and could get from a to b at the drop of a hat.

Stole my dad's car at 14 and got it back unscratched before he had to go to work in the morning. Got my drivers license at 16 shortly followed by my motorcycle endorsement. I've driven everything from a motorcycle to a 40 foot bus.
I've soloed 5 airplanes and never bothered to get a pilots license though I passed the written exam on the first try. By the time it came to take my flight test; my husband had the plane sold. Drat!

considering that the apostle john wrote the book of revelation based on the visions that he saw while on the island of patmos, and since there was no second witness there to see what he saw, should we not consider the book of revelation in light of the wts requirement that there be 2 or more witnesses when an accusation is made?
he made accusations against and condemned religion, politics and commerce...where is his second witness?

In a recent confrontation with the local elders over the 2 witnesses rule I mentioned how much the WTS relies on the book of Revelation and how their prophecies of the future are based upon the writings therein. I felt that if the 2 witness rule is valid in cases of child molestation; how much more so should it be valid when considering the writings of a man upon whom the WTS bases so much of its 'troof'.

remember the fears everyone had when aids first hit the news?.
here was a new killer virus that didn't have a cure and people feared it could be passed on cups, on seats, by shaking hands, by coughing and sneezing and so on.. it turns out that it couldn't and while there is still no cure, the infection rate is actually relatively low.
it takes 2 years for an aids victim to infect someone else.. now we have sars, everything changes.
Just curious....are meetings still being held in Toronto? What about assemblies and conventions planned for the summer? Are the dubs supposed to be immune to s.a.r.s?
Its possible for viral diseases to mutate...such as pneumonic plague. There is even a pneumonic form of rabies. What if s.a.r.s merges with AIDS? Personally, I'm avoiding any large gatherine of people until this mess blows over...if it ever does.
