  there has been many questions on the thread, asking for any advice or thought's on how to talk to a friend or loved one in the org.it would be great if everyone could think of ways to reach them and help us bible dummies talk to them.

  there's alot of you out there ,a hole world with idea's ,even one idea could help someone.what made you see ?, did someone say just the right thing to make you think?

  One thing that really helped me was to see the Dateline expose. Here was information from a well-recognized source that pointed out how much like white washed graves this religion was. If we get an opportunity to see more on broadcast TV (some of us don't have cable or satellite) let your loved ones know in a subtle way to watch the program.

  Clip articles from newspapers or magazines and leave them lying about. If they visit you they will see for themselves.

  If we 'preach' to them they'll turn off as they've been taught to avoid apostates. Finding out the truth from news sources is a powerful inducement to examine the teachings they espouse.

  My Husband has Emphysema !!

  my sweet husband marco has been diagnoised with emphysema.

  marco had emphysema prior to 1975 when he stopped smoking and then we joined

  Double Edge is right, O.F.C. You can cope with it by following your doctor's instructions. Make sure your husband always has his inhaler with him and if he needs to use a nebulizer at home, make sure he stays on schedule with his breathing treatments.

  My husband has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and he is doing very well. We avoid smoke-filled environments and don't go outside on dusty, windy days. We have oxygen available at home in case he needs it. Hang in there. Warrigal

  I agree 100%, Dia. The problem is that those of us on this forum as well as Silent Lambs and Freeminds are aware of the danger. The parents still sitting in the KH may have no idea that there is an urgent need to talk to their children and instruct them how to handle that most scary situation.

  The parents are taught to ignore the bad reports and don't seem to think that they are true. I hope we see more about the molestation issue on TV here as that may be the only time the parents are made aware that their children are at risk.

  If we picket with signs outside the KH we are ignored as apostates.

  Weekly Food Bill Survey

  after reading the thread on portion sizes, it'd be interesting to see what folks spend weekly on their groceries.

  one of my new year's resolutions was to improve my finances and groceries are coming under scrutiny.

  i spend about 30 a week (now), but when i wasn't paying attention and stopping in all the time, i'll bet i was spending double that.. so, what do you spend?

  Englishman made an interesting point. My food budget also includes non-food items as well as the times we eat out. It also includes gas for the car. I too am spending about $500 a month with all the go-withs.

  "Thinking Ability " and The WTBTS

  i recall an emphasis on "thinking ability" coming from the wtbts.

  i believe the point was that a mind trained in bible principles would have excellent "thinking ability".. does any one recall if the wtbts ever discussed intuition or if they ever touched on ideas that implied a mental process that was more rapid, and more penetrating?

  something that led to deeper, quicker understanding than the reasoning process itself ?

  As I recall it was more about memorizing the Wt. line and being able to parrot it back to those who questioned. Any thinking outside those lines was frowned upon. It also bordered on 'running ahead of Jehovah's organization'.

  a survey done yesterday showed that 1 in every 6 people in england is 100% happy!

  is that good or bad news?

  Paid Holidays: should they or shouldnt they?

  i think jws should have to work on paid holidays.

  i work with 3 of them & they even accept the annual holiday bonus as a gift from the company.....hmmmmm.

  what do you all think about this.

  When I was a witness, I'd fill in for other techs who wanted to be off on the holiday and they'd cover for me when I needed a day off. Too bad most of my days off were wasted at assemblies. But not anymore!

  I've been following the reports of the fires in the land downunder and I'm praying you all get some real rain soon. A gully washer....a frog strangler....lots and lots of cool, gentle rain to soak into the soil. Lets all think positive thoughts!
