  How far does the shunning go for you, by your JW parents or children?

  my dad is a jw, trying to reach out to be an elder again......also pioneering.

  i saw my cousin , his nephew , the other nite at the dance club......i told him i havent seen my dad, nor heard from him in almost 2 years.

  he said he saw him a while back but that he heard he moved.. last time i talked to my dad, it was over me not going to the circuit assembly he was trying to get me to go to.

  She was dating him originally while he was being indoctrinated into the org. Unbeknown to us he was also pushing her into joining also. She had a lot of problems at the time but she did not share these problems with us. She would come hole at night upaet and go directly to her room. We assumed it was just a spat that young people have with their boyfriends. There was obviously some degree of resistance on her part. I couldn't and still can't see that an intelligent person like her would succomb to such an idiotic belief. Boy was I wrong.

  My daughter was coerced into joining the org.by her then boyfriend. She immediately refused to participate in all the events we enjoyed as a family with no consideration of the affects on the relationship with her parents. I have told her that whenever she needs help she can always come back to her biological family. We will always be there for her as long as we live. At the moment, we do not have very much to say to each other. Greetings are cold to say the least. The only time she visits is when there are JW activities in the vicinity, she will stop over for a while. As we told her, she has a new family now that we are basically out of the picture we are truly sorry to see her go. The situatiion was created by her. If there is to be any change to the situation it must be initiated by her. We will welcome her back into the family as long as we are around. This is a lot better than what her new family are willing to offer.

  Through this and other websites I have learned a lot about the Watchtower and the associated organizations. To me it is beyond comprehension how an intelligent, as I saw her, person can follow this or any cult to the degree that she has.

  For those who raised children "in the truth"

  i don't even know where to begin to broach this subject with my daughters (should they ever speak to me again.

  they are not witnesses, and were never baptized, they are angry at me for something else).... .

  I am interested in documentation published by the WT on all subjects pertaining to telling members to not associate with the "worldly" aspects of living including "worldly friends". Can anyone steer me in the right direction.

  What Do Un-Believers Not Believe?

  one of the things that used to annoy me in the new testament was the "believe in jesus" message.

  any explainations seemed fuzzy at best so i decided to take a run at it from behind and find the definintion of an un-believer.here is what i came up with and i welcome other opinions.

  many of the people around jesus were jews, they walked with him, talked with him, listened to his teachings and witnessed his miracles.

  I am on the opposite side of the fence. My wife and I raised our daughter in the "Real Truth" (not JW version). As far as I am concerned, we did nothing wrong in raising her. Anything we did throughout her life was with her welfare in mind. Then came good old JW. Based on her reaction to us I cannot help but feel that she cannot stand to be in our company for any length of time.

  I am really interested in knowing what you would have done to appoligize for? Can you tell me the specific points that the org has told you, by direct instruction or inference, that you feel is wrong in raising your child?

  Your reply will certainly help me in applying it to my situation. Hang in there babe.

  So, what REALLY happened on September 11, a.k.a. the unknowns...???

  it's getting on to almost two years since the events of september 11, and it is striking how little we know about what happened: .

  we don't know the real names of any of the hijackers.. we don't know what countries they came from.. we don't know who planned and organized the terrorism.. we don't know who financed it.. we have no idea what actually happened at the pentagon (but i know a boeing 757 didn't go through this hole).

  normal video tapes of and from the pentagon building, which should have shown what happened, have never been released (except for one, which poses more questions than it answers).

  Sounds like some of you people are living on another planet. The 9/11 incident ws covered forward, backward, left and right. The only thing that is not known by the general public is the intelligence and what color of tie I was wearing.

  going door to door is an obligation in the jw's.

  giving a bible study isn't.

  you can ask people if they want to study the bible with you, but few are those who will accept.. there is lots of work and research to be made in order to answer all kinds of questions when a person is interested in a bible study.

  You can spend a lifetime studying the Bible and associated historical documents and just before the ticker stops you will find out you know no more than you did when you started. If you throw in some belief system or portions of one you will arrive at some far out conclusion that still will not make any sense.

  Permits be damned. The JWs as well as all religious groups should pay income tax like all the rest of the country. Look at the property owned by the JWs in Brooklyn and Patterson. All the local residents and industry are obliged to pay more than their share of taxes to support a religious cult that they do not agree with. That's a bummer. The Watchtower don't even help with the unemployment in the area because the have some suckers come in and work for peanuts.

  I tried to find out from the IRS how much they earn and how much the princiipals are making, with no success.
