# 3 newbie post.
first of all, the newbies have set a record here!.
have you ever seen a 4pg post where 21 new members reply!
I would like to submit an observation:
I follow most posts almost daily, and have noticed something. Of all the new ones, and old ones alike that have been on this forum for Who-Knows-How-Long, I have always seen (with very few exceptions) a very logical, coherant group. The thinking ability, and the focus to put their feelings, sufferings, and advice out there for all to see, are top-notch. Complete, conscise, formulated sentences are the norm. Their thoughts and words actually make sense! Many of the newest of the new, within the last year for example, are a very bright bunch, and the LOGIC of it all (or lack of logic) is what they are seeing that is making them think outside the WT box.
As a stark contrast, I see some "witnesses" that leave comments on different sites, and they sound batshi* crazy! Even "witness" FB pages are nutso! They cant form a sentence to save their lives, and come across like the raving lunatic culties that they are! Its truly embarrassing.
So anyways, I think there is a definite "type", or "class" if you will, of people that we see "coming out of the woodwork", stepping back and leaving the congregations more and more saturated with loons.
Carry on.

i wonder if the supplying companies for kingdomhall chairs, materials, etc, happen to be owned by ones with ties to the jws?
they'd be making millions!
like the us government, politicans can't just take tax money, but if they own companies that tax money goes to, then that's how you discover the true motives.
I know that in the area where I live on the West Coast, most, if not all of the "vendors" for the RBC items are "brothers". Not directly WT owned companies, mind you.
For example: Chairs (if needed) are usually outsourced, but specifically upholstery work done by a JW owned company. Decorations, done by a JW firm. Woodwork (podium/lecturn, bulletin board), JW oufit. Bathroom fittings (toilets, urinals, sinks, dividers, water fountains, towel and soap dispensers, etc etc) provided by a JW business. Catering/food service, JW firm.
I worked for the RBC in accounting, and have seen the invoices from the JW firms for these products and supplies. Obviously installation labor is provided free of charge, but the JW Firms that provide the items still get paid handsomely to either provide them, or make them (like the podiums, info boards, cabinets, etc). The prices they are charging back to the RBC, and ultimately the congregation, are NOT bargain prices. Typically, they are equal to or greater than normal everyday pricing points. I was a little flabbergasted at what some of the "brothers" were charging for stupid stuff like "wall decor", and "bathroom cabinets". NONE OF THEM do it for cost. ALL OF THEM tack on a nice tidy percentage for profit.
There is no "bidding" process, or contracts issued, like a typical, normal commercial entity. It goes purely off the Good-Ole-Boy system. Its all in who you know.
Kind of like the used/turned in Circuit Oveers auto sales business that charges above KBB prices. Nice way to take advantage of one another.
Reminds me of government spending... Other People's Money.
here we are, the family and i, moving along in our slow journey to freedom.
although they are unaware, for the most part, our ship is slowly veering off course.
not enough to cause attention, not enough to trigger alarm bells, but just enough.. since the summer dc, i have watched carefully, as the new releases remain on the coffee table, in plain sight, not touched, more of a decoration that anything.
Just a minor update to my original post:
The new releases from the DC have moved from the coffee table. They got dusty, and in the midst of cleaning, at some point, got relegated to the bookshelf. Too funny, I don't think anyone in the house has even opened them. I opened the new book just to check the fact that it was printed in ANOTHER COUNTRY.... ANOTHER CONTINENT!
I digress...
A week or so ago I noted the following little event... it made me laugh a little..
Ms Harper (Vic) usually studies her WT for Sunday on her IPAD. Cool, alot of people do, I myself am more old school, I like paper and ink for that sort of thing. Kids and I are watching an action/thriller movie, with copious amounts of gunfire, bloodshed, and general mayhem. Volume is a little loud, and I am just sure that Vic is soon going to ask us to turn it down.
She wanders in, sits down on the couch with us, and pulls out her IPAD. Now, I can see, she opens IBOOKS, and opens the WT for Sunday. As gunfire and car chases abound in the background, with bad guys being dispatched as needed, she is busy highlighting her WT. This continues for about 10 minutes, and I watch as she gets to about paragraph 6....... then folds it up and sets it aside.
She says, and I quote: "What did I miss?"
i thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.
I have been pretty lax on turning in any FS reports for the last few months, for several reasons.
1. Its silly. Its a misused indicator of someone's "spiritual health"... what I do is none of anyones business.
2. A test. If I don't turn in any time, how long before someone says anything? Does anyone give a rip? Are the elders REALLY concerned about their flock? Is my FSG Overseer and his assistant (both are elders) really aware of their group.?
The answer to #2 came a couple of weeks ago. With the end of the Service Year on Aug 31, the Secretary was busy making sure all his facts and figures were up to date to turn in ASAP, to complete his annual report. I got a couple of calls, looking for some missing time. I ignored them. Really? I dont go out in FS and all I get is a call looking for a number? Seriously? Really?
So he couldn't get hold of me, so he called Victoria (Ms Harper)...... here is a brief synopsis of their conversation, as related to me:
Secretary: I need yours Mr Harper's time that I am missing... Do you know how many hours Jack got the last 2 months?
Vic: Um... mine is xx.xx I don't know what his is.
Sec: Oh, I see. Well, I need to finish this report..... so I guess I will just put him down for the same amount as you..... I am sure that you guys are about the same.
Vic: OK?. If that's what you want to do....doesnt seem right, but you should probably ask him...??
Sec: Well, ok, I will try and give him a call again.
Summary: He guessed. He fabricated (lied?). No one ever spoke to me about it. Pure fabrications, as are most of the facts and figures, as discussed in this thread at the beginning. Disgusting, yet typical.

i have recently joined the site.
i was just appointed an elder this summer.
i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.
You will find several, more than a few in fact, individuals here, with similar stories to yours. Some, like myself, are still a part of the congregation, but have taken 2 big steps back, and are just watching. Changes that are happening almost daily become a source of entertainment, not a revelation of "new light".
There is the realization that the Play that unfolds in front of you is not real. Then at some point you realize that what you have forced yourself to believe, despite what your deepest conscience tells you, is a fabrication. Its a sham. It endears a sort of dumfounded, mouth-open, WTF have-I-been-doing moment.
It will take a while for it all to sink in; for some, like myself, it may take even longer. There are some things I struggle with every day...this whole charade has been on my mind EVERY DAY for almost 2 years. It has taken over 40 years to grind it into my being, it will take more than a few to get out from under the cultish control, and find myself............... ourselves.
Its good to have a place to chat with others who have similar feelings. Spend some time looking at past posts, you will quickly find others in your same state of awakening. Welcome.

Here is something I have never understood....... why do the CO's get to drive big luxury rigs, like Buicks (seem to be the most popular).?? Most of the time, they don't take them in Field Service, the other brothers take them in their cars (oh what a privilege!). So these big gas guzzling Buicks are just for running to and fro from the KH and the Circuit Apartment, to assemblies, etc.
Why not a Honda? Or a Toyota? Even Kia and Huyandai make some pretty decent larger sedans....I would think it would cost the brothers less in the long run, and the TOAA funds would go further?!!
I looked up the Buicks for sale in my area (Pacific NW), and saw that they were overpriced as well. Sad, really. Why is it that the average family is scrimping, saving, and using their funds to get the most out of their $$$, but WT doesnt? I know LOTS of families driving 15-20year old cars, because thats what they have! It breaks, you fix it! Old POS Toyotas, Hondas, Fords, and Chevy's are pretty common, and do just fine. How about that 10 year old Suburban or Tahoe? Works great for Field Service!
Oh, thats right, now I remember,.....its OPM..... other peoples money. The life of the Elite.........

We recently had our Circuit Assembly, 1,000 attendance with 3 baptized, all 3 under 18 and they were "buddies". I know 2 of the 3, and niether of them cares for anything other than skateboards and bmx bikes. The other half of the circuit had an attendance of 1200, with 6 baptized, same age group and level of "maturity". It was almost laughable. Pitiful really. I too remember when it was very common to have at least 1 from each congregation, and they would be serious students at that. Not anymore.
just a few issues i had from looking at this potential new york-printed toilet paper:.
pg 4: the lie that made god nameless.
this sub-article talks about how god's name is jehovah and quotes isaiah 42:8 "i am jehovah.
Just to clarify, there are actually 3 different WT magazines printed each month (besides the single issue of AWAKE)
1. The PUBLIC copy for placement and distribution, full of pretty pictures, big margins, and lots of bullet points.
2. The STUDY copy to be used at the KH on Sunday's program.
3. The SIMPLIFIED STUDY copy of the STUDY copy, same but re-worded and with more pictures, for all you who can't understand the really big words in the regular one.
