  under "2014 convention reminders":.

  seat saving: when the doors to the facility are opened each morning, please to not rush to the seating area of your preference as if competing with fellow attenders.

  a self-sacrificing spirit that moves us to seek the good of others identifies us as true christians and moves onlookers to praise god.. ................................................................ i personally don't recall them previously making reference to the jw-version of the "running of the bulls" that takes place every morning when the doors open at 8:00 a.m. have seen it myself many times, it's always good for a laugh.

  Do you think not having the book study in private homes has had much effect?

  it's been a few years since the organization ended the book study arrangement in private homes.. gone was the last opportunity to have tea and biscuits and a natter with the friends afterwards.. do you think people regret losing the book study?

  for some, it may have been the only time they were able to get some "associaton".

  The bookstudy was my favorite meeting. I didn't have to dress up, always food afterwards with the friends, always great socializing. After they got rid of the book study, i barely commented at the meetings again. Brother Conductor always chose other elders, brothers or pioneers to comment . Cognitive dissonance kicked in big time. Fade to black soon followed.

  when they disfellowship someone, how do they have the audacity to say "[name] is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses."?.

  being a witness of jehovah is a personal relationship between jehovah and the individual.

  only jehovah and the individual know the depth and trueness of the relation that exists between them.

  There iseverything wrong with the phrasing that they use. Isn't a person's conduct and faith in God the reason why one can say they are a witness to God? I also resented the wording as it suggested to others that I had lost faith on God.

  Wow! So FedEx Stadium, where the Redskins play, is the venue for the DC this year?! Smh... Happy I'm out now. I went to a football game there in September and practically melted in the heat. It's going to be MISERABLE in the summer. Oh myyyy :-\

  Can anyone go to the International Convention? Do you need a special invite to get in or is it basically open to the public? I know they discourage random brothers from attending without a special invitation, but Im wondering if there's any way they could stop you.

  we have had a letter read the last 2 meetings to all congs attenidng the detroit dc's... seems people are not going, or not booking their hotels.

  and the society is pissed!

  they are imploring every one to not wait for a new list with new hotels, it is not happening.

  I just finished reading "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao." The author, Junot Diaz, introduces the Caribbean concept of Fuku. Basically, it's the extreme generational heritage of a family curse or bad luck. I'd name my book: Fuku. Has the English connotation of F#%@ you, if you choose to read it with English pronunciation. And it carries it's original definition at the same time. Jwism (and all other abusive relationships) is truly an extreme curse that can be carried onto the next generation if one does not actively fight against it on a daily basis.

  Do Facebook "Friends" That Constantly Brag, Irritate You?

  there are a few people who are fb friends that constantly brag about themselves, their looks, their accomplishments, their bodies, their job---etc.. one particular person is too close to ignore but it's never ending.

  i am thisclose to telling her, to please stop it.. any thoughts?.

  Ppl like that, I just choose not to see their posts anymore. Just ignore or cancel ypur subscription to them. My cousin pushes weight loss products ALL DAY LONG. i didnt want to unfriend so I just hid her posts. Another woman I know swears she's a fashion diva and is oh-so-inspirational. Ummm no! I also hid her posts. I have a friend who says he's annoyed by an fb friend who posts selfies featuring her boobies and such. He has yet to unfriend or hide her posts. I suspect he enjoys them, too.

  Just ignore the egotistical ones. FB is falsehood city. There's not much substance to be found. And I just won't publicize myself anymore. Either move on from fb, become indifferent, or join the club and reveal your self-importance!
