Please Hear My Confession, I lied to all my friends in the Kingdom Hall! Forgiveness needed!
by AuntConnie ini ask for the forgiveness of all the brothers and sisters who heard me lie and lie and lie about how my husband lost all his weight!
please make room in your heart to forgive me, it's rare i will open up myself to the scrutiny of jehovah's witnesses net message board, i try not to reveal too many things about my life.
i come from a fleshly family that is screwed up, we learned from youth how to use theocratic warfare even with other jehovah's witnesses asking innocent questions.

Do you sense and underlying serenity ?
by Phizzy ingoing forward from my other thread, on the unhappiness of jw's, and thanks for your contributions to that, do you sense the opposite with xjw's ?.
not simply the happiness that we all exude, external and obvious, but an underlying serenity.. all that i have met face to face, and as far as i can tell those that are on here, have a certain serenity, due i think in the main to having the conviction that our leaving was the very best of decisions.. yes, we still have our daily struggles, perhaps the frustrations of trying to free loved ones, health problems, financial difficulties, personality faults of our own we are working on, any or all of these plus ones i haven't mentioned.. and yet i detect a peace, and contentment, that comes from being the real "you", no longer having to put on the cult personality, no longer having to suffer the noise of cognitive dissonance, no longer feeling we are not "doing enough".. that inner peace is what makes you all such lovely people..

I am happy that i am outbecause i finally am free to be me again. But i am very very sad and hurt by the fact that my friends are no longer my friends. Trying to rebuild my life when my trust in ppl is gone is very difficult. Perhaps i will feel serene with time. No matter what, though, i am very very happy im out.

10 good reasons why celebrating birthdays should be allowed
by bluecanary ini cannot take credit for any of the gems below but i did want to polish and organize them.
much of the information was borrowed from this thread.
if you can come up with any more, please post them.. the bible does not ban birthdays.

thank you for this list on the reasons why celebrating birthdays should be allowed. i just reviewed this with my oldest, who still refuses to celebrate. I so badly want to have a big delicious sweet gooey birthday cake with pretty candles and other decorations. I want to have her gaggle of friends from school over at our house to celebrate the life of my precious little girl. I have some more months to work with her. In the meantime, I will print the list and review the scriptures mentioned in the list periodically. Let's cross our fingers that she will turn around on her position!

SHUN ME IF YOU MUST SONG
by RankAtheist1 ini have been d.f'd since '72 when my over-acheiving brother spearheaded the action because i had visited with my d.f'd mom and my catholic wife had a christmas tree!
so it has been a while since i have given serious thot to this crap.
but my eyes were opened this last 4th of july at lake tahoe when about 50 of us at a camp site sat and related all the personal adventures of trying to extricate oneself from this insidious cult!

I'am in the Penalty Box! I asked the Circuit Overseer "Who Donates Blood For Jehovah's Witnesses Blood Fragments".
by AuntConnie intold my husband to put a muzzle on my mouth over the blood dogma.
we all were driving around in field service when the topic of "which fragments would you take if you were in a car accident or cut yourself badly".
said his choice is a personal one, another sister with chronic health problems said she had no problem with the governing body's new light on taking various fragments.

Don'tCallMeShirley-- What do fractions of fornication and idolatry look like? LOL! This is such a great point-- " After all, if fractions of blood are allowed then the other items in Acts 15 should be subject to the same (idiotic) rules." Their policies should be consistent with the rest of scripture, and it clear they are grossly INCONSISTENT! My god, when you are in, you are truly blind.
The cognitive dissonance really did cause me so much discomfort, misery, and grief that I had no choice BUT to leave. I wish I had known earlier about sites like these. I would have felt normal and not crazy for wanting out.

Major goof in the Sept 1 WT article on Babel and the origin of languages
by marmot injust wanted to point out something that another poster brought up in the thread on the agm rumours, the writing department included a photo of a cuneiform tablet in their article on the origin of languages with a caption that states it is from 3000 bc.
this would pre-date the global flood myth and the fanciful tower of babel story altogether, hah!.

I was wondering..
by Dis-Member inhow are the society so happily selling off it's brooklyn real estate for untold millions to clients that they teach and believe will soon have their newly purchased properties pulverised and themselves incinerated when armageddon comes.. should they not be honest and tell all prospective buyers that they won't be owning those properties for very long?
not a word.. they are just happy to take their truck loads of cash though.
that's about as disingenuous as it gets.

OMG eyeusetobeadub -- that's absolutely right. I loved how you used examples from Scripture to show how empty they are inside. Total hypocrites! Thank you for putting it into words for me.

who signed your blood card?
by losingit intwo elders in my congregation signed mine bc hubby couldn't bear the repercussions of either 1- saving my life by allowing the blood transfusion, which would probably lead to him being df'd, and 2- me dying bc he did not allow the blood transfusion and having my parents call him a murderer.. isn't that so nice?
when i most wanted him to represent me, he didn't have the guts, even hypothetically.... so, who signed your blood card?.

Hi rubadubdub-- I have thought about that, putting together a new binding legal document expressing my wishes just in case someone from my past pulls something out saying that I do not want to receive blood transfusions. More than anything, though, I want something current that expresses what I want for my life NOW. I want to move on from the WTBTS. Burning the card was definitely one step for me.
I just noticed on jwfacts that there was even a child blood card-- that's crazy! That came out in 2001. I was shocked when I saw that yesterday. 2001 was when I got baptized. I don't remember ever ever ever seeing one of those or it being discussed at a meeting.
