Another Shooting Massacre

These types of incidents used to be carried out typically by middle aged white males who were stressed, frustrated and felt passed by or failed to live up to hopes and expectations. Recently they have been more typically associated with young Gen Y maies who don't fit in socially or feel like failures. And a lot of them are killing other innocents simply because they can't get laid. Cho, the V Tech shooter, fit this category and there have been a number of others. It likely contributed to Lanza and the Colorado dumbass movie theater shooter.

This appears to be a generational phenomenon; more than a few sociologists have suggested that the entitled, molly coddled, everyone gets an A or a trophy world these grew up in has contributed to these slaugters. Little Johnny never got to experience not making the team, not getting a trophy or failing and didn't develop the skillsets or mindsets to deal with failure. I concur. This 22 year old fits that mold perfectly. There are of course other contibuting factors, such as mental issues, etc., but a lot of these young men simply are angry that they don't have more Facebook friends and get laid more often. Sad.

i've seen more threads and comments in the last week about the "demise of the wt" than in some time.

several were on threads about the donation arrangement and how its going to backfire in some way on the wt.

oh and the lone elder who was pissed in some sort of passive-aggresive manner about it when he presented the resolution.

Nice OP. Thanks. Excellent closing summary. As I've noted before and as many of you have also noticed, the OPs which typically get the highest number of 'Views" are those that deal very specifically with the 'latest' potential change/movement/information on all things Borgian.That suggests that there are a lot of lurkers keenly interested in anything having to do with the fate of the Borg. Human nature would suggest many of those are hoping for its demise and the sooner the better. But some are likely hoping for a kinder, gentler Borg where they can acclimate to it and keep their families intact.

Lurkers, read LG's closing guidance and follow it. If you wait on the Borg's implosion, erosion or transformation into something palatable, you will likely grow old and die before it occurs. We all would love to see its complete and quck demise, but that isn't likely to occur. Leave. ASAP with you and yours and live life to the full.

given the fact that religion has been such a divisive force throughout history amongst all nations and tribes of the earth , i wonder how things might have been different had their been no god / creator / religion in the mix.. of course religion alone has not been the cause of all mankinds troubles & conflicts with each other , nationalism , polotics , racism , to name a few are also guilty of these problems.. but it seems to me that religion , beleif in a creator / god and its consequences of such a beleif are the cheif causes of mankinds troubles.. remember this is your thoughts if a creator , god , religion didnt exist in human conscience .. what are your thoughts ?.

When we were in the Borg, our brains shut down, including mine to some degree. We let someone else think and plan for us. We limited our ability to think, learn, explore, and expand our knowledge of the world.

Relgiions are no different that national economies. If you exclude half the population, you will always be second rate and never ful-filli the potential. Allowing women, minorities and those with different persuasions to not only participate but flourish helps expand a country's GDP and its scientific and economic capabilities. The same concept is true for religions; and nearly every major religion has suppressed women, gays, etc. for thousands of years.

This isn't a difficult OP to understand. Religion and a belief in god have hindered man's progress by centuries. The theory suggests it; the facts suggest it.

In a study of the relationship between countries' belief in a god and average Intelligence Quotient, measured by Lynn, Harvey & Nyborg, which compared religious belief and average national IQs in 137 countries. "The study analysed the issue from several viewpoints. First, using data from a U.S. study of 6,825 adolescents, the authors found that atheists scored 6 IQ points higher than non-atheists.

Second, the authors investigated the link between religiosity and intelligence on a country level. Among the sample of 137 countries, only 23 (17%) had more than 20% of atheists, which constituted “virtually all... higher IQ countries.” The authors reported a correlation of 0.60 between atheism rates and level of intelligence, which was determined to be “highly statistically significant”.

Great advice here from lots. You've been there before; you can get there again. We have faith in you. Viv's advice is spot on. We didn't evolve on sugars and dense carbs (can you imagine what would have happened if NY style cheesecake was available 100,000 years ago? Its maker would have been deemed god/goddess). We evolved on plants and animals. Keep us posted on your progress. You can be inspiration for others. And if you've done the Navy Seal workout, you can get there again. If there isn't any reason you can't do that workout, then do it. It rules.

And VG, when I exited the Borg, the 'Net and sites like this didn't really exist in this form. I wandered around for a few years, doing personal study, reflection and meditation, wondering how the hell I was fooled and trapped by the Borg for so long and had so much of my life wasted. Like others on this site, I haven't seen my Dub family in 2 decades.

I would have given anything to have had this site, as it currently is, with the atheists bitch slapping me into sensibility. I would have figured it all out a lot sooner. So stop speaking for all of us please. I was one of the lurkers, one of those hurt, one of those anguished, one of those not knowing, searching and looking. Do not try speaking for me. I would have given anything if a 1994 version of me was available on a place like this so that I didn't have to waste so much fukkkkkking time. Reel it in VG. You do not speak for all of us. The lurkers and newbies NEED us on this site, a helluva lot more than they need purple dinosaur group hugs, imaginary characters in the sky and high school graduates with intense bible learnin.

I stay out of theist conversations, but when the topic is open, I'm as likely as anyone to talk about imaginary creatures in the sky? Why? Because that's what they are. Deal with it. Lurkers and ex-Borgians NEED that. They were trapped in theism based on a faulty premise and belief system. What would you prefer, that they trade one failed belief system for another that looks pretty much exactly like it? Those who do so, IMHO, fail lurkers and newbies. I get sickened by the preachers and proseletyzers on this site. Vomiting sick. Wasn't the Borg enough? Didn't most of us join the Borg because we thought it had the truth, unlike the Catholics, Jews, Baptists, etc. etc.? What, now we replace it with yet another failed system? The mindset and inability to think rationally, analytically and objectively is a trap. If we sometimes have to do the verbal equivalent of bitch slapping people to get them to wake up, so be it.

You could not be more wrong. I knew of this site a long time ago and only recently joined, but the few times I poked around it a decade ago the hard-core preaching theists made me sick. So you would have ColdSteel, AbleBodiedDude, Objective Truth (don't you just LOVE that name), Perry and the recently departed Rev hold court on this site and trap all of the theists deeper?

You could not be more wrong. I don't interrupt, hijack or otherwise enter theist discussions; I get your drift there. Otherwise, you could not be more wrong. Oh, did I say that already? You. Could. Not. Be. More. Wrong.

Ditto Cofty. DD, I have the Navy Seal workout in my files; I've done it. It is major. If you can do that, without vomiting, passing out or passing out in your own vomit, you are the dude. But it's calories in, calories out. You can accomplish the same weight loss goal with nothing but caloric intake. Of course you won't look quite as cool. With exercise (and absent adding back the calories after a workout to 'reward' yourself) the process is quicker and you will look cooler. But it is about the calories. That, DD, becomes about lifestyle changes, discipline, self control and self awarness (why do we eat?).

Over the years I've noted a number of 'experts' on the 'net and other places tell individuals wanting to lose weight that: 'It's not your fault." Unless someone is holding you down and stuffing calories down your throat it is your fault. "Its not as simple as calories in, calories out." Bull-freaking-shit. That's all its about; anything else would violate the laws of physics.

Another thing that annoys me (wake up Kate I'm talking about discipline and ownership!) is individuals wanting to lose weight who blame it on: their job; their age; their gender; their kids; stress. All of those, and others, can of course contribute to weight problems, but at the end of the day (and the beginning) we own it. It belongs to us. Voicing those 'excuses', even thinking about them as excuses, will set you up to fail.

We evolved over hundreds of thousands of years of scarce calories to want to store any excess as fat and to crave calories. They meant life, making it through the drought, the winter, the famine. The past few generations we have had more calories than we know what to do with (well, we actually do know - we eat them), but our bodies are thinking 1927. BCE. Smartly, limit junk foods, processed foods, fast food, sugar, and the one thing that would have the most immediate affect, soft drinks.

when you're sick of the cherade of pretending you can deal with the spiritual division when you dont think you can anymore.

when you're convinced that your spouse is so decieved she is lost in a desert and is fine with living by the mirage.

The right thing? Honesty, decency, kindness, generosity, moderate in all habits. I quit worrying about the individual rules associated with various religions a long time ago. Study Buddha's 8 fold pathway. Research the ancient pagan philosphy: "Harm no one." I live by that. As long as I'm not harming anyone I give it no thought. And by anyone I'm not talking about invisible or make believe creatures. It isn't complicated; we just made it so.
