i know there are some here that are going through some tough times.
some of you do not believe in god.
some are not sure.. i was told recently by a friend to pray to god for help and he would comfort me.. my first impulse is to pray.

I'm glad you bumped this. And I'm happy your journey is getting easier. The more you embrace an evidentiary based belief and knowledge system and the more distance and time you put between you and all things Borg the happier you will be. And the more you will look back and wonder why you ever believed the things you believed. It's only scary the first few steps.

The italics did it on its own. I didn't format it that way. Copying and pasting from Word moved a lot of things around. I caught a lot of it but missed the italics. But thanks for pointing that out. I will watch auto-formatting from now on.

While we are being grammar/formatting nerds, can someone please say something about the use of apostrophes? They are not used for plural words except In special cases, such as when forming a plural of a word that is not normally a noun, some writers add an apostrophe for clarity.
Example: Here are some do's and don'ts.
OR for lower case plurals: Minding one's p's and q's. Typically an apostrophe is not used for years/decades, such as the 1970s (NOT the 1970's), although if you shorten it (contraction), you can write the '70s.
They are primarily used to show possession and for contractions.

right now, i feel like my mind is at war with itself.. on the one side is reason, logic.. on the other is tradition, hope and fear.. reason and logic are challenging life-long beliefs.
they are telling me, "is this any more believable than the story of the lord of the rings?".
certain doctrines of my belief system are crumbling.. my mind still wants to hold on to the belief in a creator, his son jesus and the bible.

A lot of us have been on your journey. I've called it my Pink Floyd sojourn - Another Brick in the Wall. I didn't worry about it as you are, however. It was an excellent, rational journey to me. I took my time, removing and evaluating each JW/Christian/Theist brick at a time. If I found it lacking, and I did, I threw it away.
After a few years all that was left was the foundation - a belief in god. I remember referring to myself to my closest friends as an agnostic, then an atheistic leaning agnostic, then an atheist. No drama. No angst. No fears.

I agree. Of course none of us can predict the future of the Borg and their Dark Lords, but the issues you raise suggest a circling of the wagons and a clenched fist, digging in of the heels mindset. Moving from Brooklyn surprised me, as I've stated before. NY can be brutal in making people/organizations conduct reality checks. Absent that critical eye, the Dark Lords would appear to be removing themselves even more from the mainstream - something which doesn't appear to bode well for the rank and file in the shire.
When cults feel stressed or pressured externally, they typically act in these ways. The grab for $ from the local congregations appears pathetically greedy. Railing against college/dress/grooming/etc. does harken back to a dark era. Maybe the Dark Lords will surprise us all and become a kindler, gentler Borganization. Reeks of Gollum, the Nazgul and the Dark Lords. Run and hide in the shire, Hobbitses.
today is my first post on jwd, i was one of jehovahs witness for almost 50 years of my life, i was born into the religion.
i was baptized at a young age and once i got married i was a very spiritual woman as they would call me.
my husband and i served as full time pioneers, we traveled abroad and went to international conventions, did some special pioneer service in other states in the us.

today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Rear view mirror. That's where you need to put this ASAP. I 'stepped aside' a year or so before my exit; I couldn't take the Dark Lords and their draconian control any longer. We are all proud of you and looking forward to hearing more about your continuing exit out of the Borg.

i don't post here often,but as the new year just started and my birthday is tomorrow, i am feeling extra reflective.
it has been several years since i was willingly disfellowshipped, and i say willingly because when the judicial committee asked me my thoughts on the organization i told them i thought it was not a god directed organization.
yes- everyone has faults and makes mistakes; an organization even more so.. yet, you ignore all the fingers pointing at you.. many here have no faith.
many here go to churches who lie about everything biblical; look at x-mas!.
but at least we know god and christ and try to live up to their name!.
