The Rebel: "I have decided this will be my last post on this thread."
There is a god.
so i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.

Cantleave,
"*Sigh* Why are there so many idiots on this board?"
Ditto. The rationals will sooner or later leave - sooner for some of us. Simon will get the type of forum he desires, one way or another.
after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.
SailAway,
Gutsy Girl. I'm impressed. I agree with those who suggest hiring a lawyer to write and send the letter is a good idea. Good luck.
lostwun here, i joined 2 months ago but am now just finding the courage after doing more research to formally introduce myself to the board and embrace my new beginnings as an ex-jw.
i am a second-generation jw.
i grew up with parents who are well known and very respected in many circuits.
Lostwun,
Welcome to the forum! The collective wisdom on this site about how to handle exiting the cult is outstanding. You are in good hands. Good luck on your exit and I hope your mate opens his eyes.
so last night i was having a wonderful meal in a very nice restaurant when we heard what we thought was a loud clap of thunder.................. it was a bomb.
yards from my hotel.
thankfully i made a few decision that meant i wasn't in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Cantleave,
I'm glad you are ok; we need you on this site!!
my jw spies tell me that the kingdom halls are empty compared to how they used to be, since i left 5 years ago.
not saying they're empty because of me though.. is that what you are hearing?.
Punk,
Two great statements: "I have observed myself, that those that genuinely want to show love within the congregations are the first ones to leave the cult." AND
"That there is no love is a reflection of what is filtering down from those above in the corporation."
Over a period of several years, these two issues began eating at me, to the point that it was apparent that the problems were not with individual men in the congregations - they were caused by the leaders in Brooklyn.
Every organization gets exactly the type of management it desires, and the Dark Lords are no different. Those who excelled in the Dark Tower were typically the task masters, those who cared more about the 'company' than individual sheep, and the mini-me Legalists and Pharisees - exactly like the Dark Lords.
These two issues you identify were the catalyst to my questioning, along with the oppressive control.
post a meme, original or not, about what you think religion is.

While not strictly following the syntax:
in the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .
the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.
the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.
TimothyT,
Wooooo hoooooooooooooooo!
I'm very happy for you.
man, this mahamantra is some real hypnotic music!
it's weird, pleasurable, hypnotic and cult-like all rolled into one.
lol.
I don't know anything about the Hare Krishnas, but I've experienced the mantras at Buddhist temple. Candle light, everyone sitting on floor or low chairs, holding hands, eyes closed and chanting for 45 minutes in rhythmic cadence was one of the most peaceful and cleansing things I've ever done.
Which is its intent.
