I would hope the gays would be nicer to us. Simon, I have never disagreed with you until now. A world primarily of gays and lesbians would almost assuredly understand the need to carry on the species; they would work it out I am certain.

Why doesn't Jehovah just destroy Satan and the demons then leave humanity alone?

if all the trouble on this planet is down to satan and the demons, why not just get rid of them and then leave humankind alone and see how we go from there?
wouldn't a god who "is love" (1 john 4:8) full of mercy and justice at least try that first?

I had a similar thought: why would god allow such a powerful enemy free access to pitiful humans. Think about it. Human mothers were lucky to see their babies live past the age of 2 or 3. Famines and a severe lack of food were common, as having enough food to ensure you or yours made it through the winter or the drought was unlikely. In addition to being killed by each other, the weather, elements and unseen pathogens and viruses would ensure that the average life expectancy was at best 34 years for tens of thousands of years.
Kinda seems a bit unfair that the big guy would let loose such a roaring lion seeking to devour someone. Humans would be easy prey. Unfair, unlevel playing field. Thanks god.
Until I realized they were both make believe people. Then it all made sense.

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......

i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

I was an MS and elder, and I thought the meetings were mind numblngly boring. I worked to try to make my parts interesting, sometimes with success someimtes probably not. What can you expect? The meetings are basically cut and paste from Brooklyn (or wherever the old men are now). They could just have easily taped the damn things in NY and played it over the intercom. And with each passing year the control increased (which is the primary reason I became disillusioned and began charting my move out of the WT).

We need to compile the best of the couter-theist responses and arguments you all have provided on this forum so that we can simply copy and paste it into replies and responses to the the ridiculous statements made by so many theists. Compile, summarize and hit the send button whenever needed. You guys have made so many compelling arguments that it is difficult for me to understand how any can leave the WT, come to this site and still remain tied to their theist beliefs. For long. And they will be much better off once they leave them behind. I wish we could convince them of this, but it seems they have a mental block.

by Captain Blithering ina young, progressive, kind elder wants to have a chat with me on sunday after the meeting.
we've talked before and been quite open about the judgemental attitudes 'we' have as witnesses, and he was completely in agreement, stating that he's never understood the beard thing among other issues, and wants to see the society moving forward by change..
i've no doubt he just wants to encourage me to up my hours or reach out again, but it's nerve wracking, as i know i'll say something i'll regret.

Assume bad things will happen. He may have some of his own doubts and concerns, but at the end of the day he will almost certainly default to the JW elder stance. Anything you say can and will be used against you. I would say sweet things about the GB and all things JW. Exit quietly and quickly with yourself and those belonging to you if possible. Any other options is fraught with peril. The BOE will think they are doing god's (and the GB's) will. You can so quickly go from being a brother in love and christ to an enemy of the deepest and darkest kind. I was an elder; I've seen it occur many times.

Ha! Funny WitnessMyFury. Belief may or may not be a form of mental illness, but giving over all of your thought processes to a religion/belief simply cannot be good for one's mental faculties. Studies have suggested that the very relgious, especaily those in high control groups, often have less mental acuity. Duh. That's who we were as JWs; unfortunately, too many ex-JWs want to hold onto a failed belief system rather than explore all of the potential of their minds and lives.
