When I was a dub, it was #1. I had such a crush on a young sister named Charity. Wow! the feelings I get even today when I think about her!
Today, it's #10. I am making up for lost time by doing REAL charitable works in my community.

first i have to say a big hi to everyone and especially those from the beyondjw board!
anyway, i must post here more often.
i get stuck in my old routines too much.. .
Hi all!
Unfortunately (at least for me!) the Paradise Lost book is not from the seventies- it's from the FIFTIES. (1958 I think) My Dad studied that book with us til we had the #&^% thing memorized. I still remember how horrified I was at the "armageddon" picture, especially at the little girl falling into the crack in the earth, still clutching her doll. Yuck! And to think, this book was "marketed" toward kids! Double yuck!!
Now for your entertainment pleasure I give you Duncan's marvelous story based on that armageddon picture. I guarantee you'll laugh so much you'll forget, at least for a second, how horrible that picture is:

they are concerned about ice later today.
brrrrrr.... .
Hi!
I'm not too far away from you, I'm in Tennessee. It's wet and rainy here, but the temperature is almost 60 degrees F.
The Lawd does work in mysterious ways!
CyrusThePersian
who are the governing body members?
can the average jw name even one or more members of that body?
i don't really know, but over the last ten to twelve years since i left the jw religion, i have a better idea - i think.
Excellent post!
I am particularly looking forward to hearing about the circumstances behind J.F.Rutherford's release from prison. I had always thought there was more involved there than mmets the eye.

i now have a pc again.
i had gotten rid of the wt cd because i had a mac ................ can anyone get me a cd-rom?
Hi!
Every once in a while one will pop up on eBay, just type in "watchtower" on the search window and see what happens. They tend to get a little expensive, though. Your best bet is to get a witness to order one for you. I persuaded my daughter (still a dub) to get one for me.

.
as a married jw, did your spouse ever cheat on you with another jw?
codeblue
Hi!
Yes, my ex-wife cheated on me with an elder who was separated from his unbelieving wife. It gave them the "scriptural divorce" out they needed in order to marry each other. They were both privately reproved and are now living happily ever after. What's weird is that before these two could marry each other, the CO said that the elder had to go back to his estranged unbelieving wife, tell her what he had done, and see if she would forgive him! God, I wish I could have been there to see her face! He later told me that she burst out laughing!

i am an ex-witness who faded from the religion about 4 years ago.
interestingly, i am not new to this board because i have been lurking here for over 2 years and enjoying the great wealth of spiritual food here.
i feel so connected with many of the posters here because of my passive involvement with this board.
Hi Greatcrowd!
Welcome to the board! I, too mostly lurk but seldom post. Just like you, I feel a rapport with the people who post on this board. I am sad when some of the posters here feel down and I "rejoice and cry out joyfully" {Watchtower-ism, sorry} when people here are happy. All of us lurkers should post more so that people on this board can get to know us as well as we know them. I look forward to hearing more from you!
Again, WELCOME!!

as a long time poster on other message boards.
i have often noticed, that despite the topic, there are always certain personalities on each.
i guess it is kind of like the congregation, in that no matter what one you were in, there were characters that matched up with the one you left.
Hi!
Yes, I agree! I see each of those types on this board as well as combinations of those types. I for one am GLAD to see all these different types of people on this board. I have been educated, amused, moved, and entertained by all the different people that post to this board. I love you all. Keep the good work, every one of you!

P.S. Vivamus, How could anyone possibly not notice you??
well, as you can imagine, new south wales was awash with rugby this weekend.
the crowd downunder will turn out for just about anything sporting!
despite all that, (and it's still raining!
Hi!
Me personally, I prayed HARD that it wouldn't stop! As for the group, we would usually do # 5 Return Visits, then #2 McDonalds, and finally #4 GO HOME!!! YEEEHAAAAAA!!!!
CyrusThePersian (of the 'It never rains on Saturday' class)
i was a jw about 15 years ago and have been reading these forums for a while.
it took a long time to get over the fear of armageddon for sure.
my 18 year old is still a jw (we live at opposit ends of the world) and i have found your information really useful as i am preparing some kind of telephone 'presentation', as it were, regarding jw beliefs and the difference between jw and the other christian churches and what the message of jesus was.
Hi!
A great big welcome to you! It's amazing, isn't it that so many changes take place in the org but still so many just keep on hangin' on...
