  Hi!

  Yes, my ex-wife cheated on me with an elder who was separated from his unbelieving wife. It gave them the "scriptural divorce" out they needed in order to marry each other. They were both privately reproved and are now living happily ever after. What's weird is that before these two could marry each other, the CO said that the elder had to go back to his estranged unbelieving wife, tell her what he had done, and see if she would forgive him! God, I wish I could have been there to see her face! He later told me that she burst out laughing!

  i am an ex-witness who faded from the religion about 4 years ago.

  interestingly, i am not new to this board because i have been lurking here for over 2 years and enjoying the great wealth of spiritual food here.

  i feel so connected with many of the posters here because of my passive involvement with this board.

  Welcome to the board! I, too mostly lurk but seldom post. Just like you, I feel a rapport with the people who post on this board. I am sad when some of the posters here feel down and I "rejoice and cry out joyfully" {Watchtower-ism, sorry} when people here are happy. All of us lurkers should post more so that people on this board can get to know us as well as we know them. I look forward to hearing more from you!

  as a long time poster on other message boards.

  i have often noticed, that despite the topic, there are always certain personalities on each.

  i guess it is kind of like the congregation, in that no matter what one you were in, there were characters that matched up with the one you left.

  Yes, I agree! I see each of those types on this board as well as combinations of those types. I for one am GLAD to see all these different types of people on this board. I have been educated, amused, moved, and entertained by all the different people that post to this board. I love you all. Keep the good work, every one of you!

  Me personally, I prayed HARD that it wouldn't stop! As for the group, we would usually do # 5 Return Visits,then #2 McDonalds, and finally #4 GO HOME!!! YEEEHAAAAAA!!!!

  i was a jw about 15 years ago and have been reading these forums for a while.

  it took a long time to get over the fear of armageddon for sure.

  my 18 year old is still a jw (we live at opposit ends of the world) and i have found your information really useful as i am preparing some kind of telephone 'presentation', as it were, regarding jw beliefs and the difference between jw and the other christian churches and what the message of jesus was.

  i was pleased to receive an unusual bottle of blended wine from a very dear dub and tonite mrs ozzie and i decided to imbibe.

  "winestate" magazine had this to say about our selected drop:.

  what defines your life now?

  as a jehovahs witness, our lives were clearly "defined".

  for those of us who are no longer in the "truth", what "drives" your life now?.

  for me, it is my kids ( 12, 9, 4--busy--busy--busy) ; my wife; my career; i live by my own personal value system ( tried, tested and working).. the absence of the superimposed restrictive grid of the jw lifestyle has allowed my life to blossom.

  Yep Franklin, you nailed it. I think the key here can be summed up in one word:

  Freedom!

  Freedom to do what i want, when I want. I can celebrate holidays with friends and co-workers. I can volunteer to help feed the homeless at the shelter along with the good church-going folks from "Babylon the Great" Hell, I can even take my 47 year-old self to a night club and listen to rock music and watch the twenty-somethings dance!

  But the main thing that my life is focused on now is getting my kids out of the org before their youth is wasted. That takes work because they are deeply ingrained. This board helps me tremendously in that regard. Thank you all!!

  my son's band...tree of woe...was played on one of our local radio stations tonight...in a "music knock-out"...and if they win they will get played another night!
