  SARS here to stay

  by maggie fox, health and science correspondent washington (reuters) - an alarming new respiratory disease that spread from southern china to virtually every continent within months is probably here to stay, health experts say.

  world health officials moved quickly to try to contain the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome once word got out, but it was carried too quickly by person-to-person contact and is now probably entrenched in the population, they said.

  Simon my boyfriend works in one of Western Australias largest Path centres and beleive me there are alot more scary contagions there then SARS, perspective wise SARS is about as scary as being killed by Anthrax. More people die worldwide by car crash's a day, more people die from unprotected sex a day, more people die from suicide daily. People have contracted SARS and then got over it far more people have recovered than have died from it. If 50% of people who contracted SARS died then we could start comparing it to the Spanish Flu but even then it wouldnt be that close. And Simon there is alot to be said of imunisation, people work all their lives to create protection from things we don't need to to know about, these people deserve alot of credit.

  I think alot of people watch and read the news to much, most of it has been added to and taken away from and just purly changed to make it more interesting.

  I understand your cause for concern LyinEyes, but it isnt that contagious, it may seem that way because of the worldwide media coverage on it, but think about it, from billions of people worldwide only a couple of thoasand surposedly have it and only just over a hundred people have died from it .. this is since last september. There are alot more nasty things out there killing alot more people daily like cancer, AIDS etc. I recon if the crap hadn't been going on with terrorism this desease wouldnt been as closely scutinised. I'm not playing down the people that have died so far and yes this has the potentail to be nasty . but we don't live in the middle ages .. I have faith in our worldwide medical teams working on the problem as we speak.

  i see not alot has change around here, i'm happy to see there is another homo type thread floating around and the complete penisheaded-ness of homophobes .

  i have to say thought that i was dissapointed about the posting of those pics of dead iraqi people/children without a warning of the graphic content of said links .. and i also noticed simon didnt say anything about it ... it should have been censored .. and for future reference i will not be cencored .

  Oh the holiday was great except for the 6 hour drive there and 6 hour drive back .. just for your information I went to Kalbarri (like you know where that is) with my boyfriend Chris and some friends of ours .. It was a really nice week and we drank shit loads and swam lots and just generally goofed off.

  Here is a fairly simple solution free will, it's somthing I don't always do but I still do from time to time .. you know when you talk to yourself in your mind ? well why don't you direct that line of communication to god, throw his name in there a few times and it will start to become habit.

  Major WTS Prophecy goes down to defeat !!!

  many here may recall that the watchtower society has published much material on the prophetic role of the united nations ... specifically, the united nations is the scarlet colored wild beast, the "image" of the worldly 7 headed wild political beast ... it would be given life by the two-horned dual world power of britain and america, the "lamb-like beast spoken of in revelation ... this "image" beast would be given power to rule one prophetic hour over the nations as they subordinate their national sovereignty to it ... and so on ...

  then ... after the creation of the united nations in 1945 in san francisco the wts interpreted revelation regarding the demise of the old league of nations to apply to a statement in revelation that this "image" beast would be revived in the form of the united nations ... seemingly, the wts was on to something ... and for the next 45 years (until about 1990) the watchtower published anything and everything they could to make their interpretation stick with respect to how deep in the time of the end they believed we were living in ... then, about 1990, the watchtower society joined the un as a member ngo ... a significant departure from their previous stand on political neutrality ... and ... hatred of satan's old system of things ... certainly, since we are nearly 90 years into the last days of this wicked system we would expect the un to be in control or at least taking the lead ...

  so, now ... where do we stand as of march 19th, 2003?

  To the average JW, what has not happened YET is what will still come true in the "near" future.

  No matter how upside down and inside out it appears ... even if it is somthing completely different such as the the sun setting they will tell us it was armageddon and that we have been brought into a spiritual paradise of 'understanding'

  Elder's Pay Attention Book Revised?

  i heard a rumor about there being an addition to the jw's elder's book.

  either 2 chapters as inserts were added a chapter 7 and 8 or a revised hard copy with the chapters added.

  does anyone know if this is true or is it just rumor.

  JWs Advertising on TV now

  we were just watching er rerun episodes back to back...after the second episode finished chachasmum and i saw an advertisement for the jws.

  it started out showing a teenage girl on the computer like she was in a chat room...and it was showing her write love notes to someone whom she thought might be a teenage boy...and a voice over said something like...parents protect your children...then it showed an old, fat man with a bottle of beer, sitting back typing on the computer...then all of a sudden it said, "teach your children knowledge, wisdom and thinking ability"...it caught my ear and i looked closer at the bottom of the screen it read: christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses...and gave a 1-800 number.

  looks like they are stealing the mormons' pitch.

  Hmmmm isn't it strange that the kid feels so much better after mother reads him the bible ... Perhaps she forgot to read all those prophecies about the impending doom that is to come as far as they beleive ... Or maybe the JW kid is just a sadist that is comforted by the idea that 99% of the earths population is going to die a horrible death. How deleted angry this makes me is beyond words. How many times I have heard the elders making a mockery of other religions advertising on TV .. calling it it Satans eyeball .. well what does that make the society now ? a habourer of child abusing, judgmental, UN joining wankers that advertise themselves with Satans help.
