jw's can't do this.
they can't do that.
restrictions abound.
I do think that JWs drink slightly more than the average population....for various reasons. The "culture" of drinking at Bethel is true! Trust me....I knew this a few years ago when a former Bethel elder told me, and I quote verbatim, "There is plenty of drinking that goes on at Bethel." (Emphasis his) I think he was saying this to encourage me to go, actually. I also knew a Bethelite who said that the day of Gilead graduation is a time for "little martini parties" all over Bethel. I don't believe a lot of the stories about the "secret culture" of Bethel, but I sure do believe this one. It's true.
Funny thing, the first non-JW party I went to had very little alcohol -- just some beer. Nobody was drinking much at all there. Oh, they were smoking pot in the back yard though.

obviously athletes linford christie and carl lewis are black.
but how about persons of mixed parentage, are they considered to be black too?.
how about my son's old girl friend whose grandmother was from the phillipines, is she black because her skin had a slight (and very beautiful) brownish glow that came from her ancestor?.
OTS,
No, you're wrong too. It's not just fried chicken but Popeyes fried chicken that makes a person black. I happen to love Popeyes btw.
Hehehe....
Seriously, there really is no such thing as "race" -- their only is ethnicity. This proposition is in accord with the findings of modern genetics and anthropologists. Place a "white" baby in the hands of the !Kung hunter-gatherer tribe and they will grow up a !Kung...take a newborn !Kung and let her be raised by Russian Orthodox Jews and she will grow up as one. There is no connection between skin color, body type or any other phenotypical feature and culture.
Oh, it is true that in the US a person of mixed white and minority heritage will be considered as a member of the minority. There's a name for this which escapes me....oh well.

Yes, I do wear glasses....I'll post a new picture when I get around to it *yawn* although I think I look better in real life than in pictures.

I've been told by more than one person that I look like Dr. Drew from MTV's "Loveline." At least three people have mentioned this...one of them a stranger I met out in service three years ago!

do any of you suffer from what you perceive as ocd?
to any degree?
do you think it is because of the wtbts?
My father was diagnosed with OCD over 30 years ago. He had it bad. Would be standing in front of the stove checking to make sure it was off for -- I'm not kidding -- sometimes over an hour. Some people with OCD must "check" with someone else over little details. My father would "repeat" questions to my mother and family asking us such things as, "I didn't hit that car when I tapped my breaks, did I?" Sometimes we would have to repeat "no" up to fifty times before he would "get it."
Amazingly, when my father left the JWs many of his symptoms vanished. People who have serious cases of OCD are prone to stress and stress only makes their situation harder. The JWs are an extraordinarily stressful religion -- not a good mix with someone with OCD. (All the same, my father still has some elements of OCD....many people feel it is a genetic disorder which has the tendency to skip generations, much like twins. Neither I or my sister have symptoms of OCD)

the athanasian creed
we worship one god [note: the trinity is monotheistic teaching only one god] in trinity, and trinity in unity, neither confounding the persons[note: the trinity does not teach that the father and the son are the same person or that jesus prayed to himself] nor dividing the substance [note:though they are different persons they are the same god.].
for the person of the father is one; of the son, another; of the holy spirit, another.
Wasn't the King of Israel also called the "son of God"? Certainly he was not the same nature as God.
Also: Jesus and the NT writers often refferred to God as humanity's "Father." How are you so absolutely, positively, 100% sure that the term "Son of God" is refferring to the metaphysical makeup of Jesus? You must at least see that there is some serious human interpretation going on here (the same would be said of the JWs).
