dear friends: my daughter has a college research paper she has to do on feminism.
how it started in the 1960's to how it has changed today.
can anyone help us find out some facts about this?
Okay. I'll buy that.

Now that you mention it, I honestly have to ask, What is left for feminists in this country to do? Granted, a hundred years ago they couldn't vote and they have won some very important battles. But, what is left in this country for feminists? Seems to me women have absolutely equal rights as men and feminism has accomplished it's goals. Now, it can fold.
Just a thought.

I love the "Kingdom realities" bit they've been throwing around lately as well. They make the fake, real and the real, fake. What an obnoxious religion.

If I hear the words, "take full advantage" again in my life -- and I don't care if it's an old lady who says it to me -- so help me God I'm going to give them a shiner.

Isn't the Kingdom Ministry the most ennui enducing piece of excrement you've ever run across? It's rehashed pressure sales pitches coupled with heavy-handedness. I don't know what it is more, dispicable or boring. Probably both.

The JWs are slow learners, but they do learn some things eventually. I would be utterly shocked if they applied the reasoning you state, Loris. They are going to get further and further away from "time prophecies" and will point more and more to "how bad things are" and how that must be part of the "sign." It's much easier to impress people with emotional "woe is us" arguments than complicated chronological arguments. They've learned that lesson ala 1914, 1925, 1975, this generation et cetera...

somewhere in apocalypse delayed james penton writes that the jws "have no systematic theology.
" i've heard this term elsewhere and have been wondering: just what is "sytematic theology"?
how does it differ from just plain 'ol "theology"?
Thanks Valis and Euphemism. I pretty much figured that was what it meant. Euph, you said:
The JWs have no systematic theology, because they never reasoned out their beliefs
Of course, the JWs would take great exception to this statement. In fact, most JWs view themselves as a completely rational religion, as opposed to, say, Pentacostals etc. They would hand you a "Require" brochure and say, "that's your 'systematic theology.'"
All the same, when I was a young JW really "sinking my teeth" into doctrine, I often wondered why we didn't just have one giant book which layed everything out without an "emotional" element -- like a true scholarly handbook.
Oh well.

Somewhere in Apocalypse Delayed James Penton writes that the JWs "have no systematic theology." I've heard this term elsewhere and have been wondering: Just what is "sytematic theology"? How does it differ from just plain 'ol "theology"? And, seeing that the JWs do have a theology, in what way do they not have a "systematic" one?
Anyone want to give a quick and easy answer?
Bradley
JT,
Very cool and not surprising. You should be annointed, LOL.
