i remember when i first stumbled upon an apostate site.
it was nerve wrecking, scary, and exciting.
the more i read, the deeper i feel into the author's smooth talk-at least that's what i thought it was.
Oh, Ariell....just accept Jeeeesus!!
hehe...just kidding...
When I first found "the net" a couple years ago I was turned off by the "Evangelical ex-dubs" as well as the "radical ex-dubs" (you know...the ones with scary graphics and who nit-pick every little thing CT Russell ever did). It took some critical thinking on my part to sift through the good from the bad when it comes to ex-dub stuff.
I do have a few sites that I recommend to others. These are the most balanced and were the most helpful to me:
http://members.aol.com/beyondjw
"Shaun's research on Jehovah's Witnesses"
anything by Alan Feurbacher (has a lot of articles on the net...do a search...he also posts here)
There are others as well. But you are absolutely correct in stating that a LOT of ex-JW sites are preachy, malicious, narrow-minded and, at times, duplicitous.

the forum is moving rather slowly so i figured i'd spice it up a little.
so i'd like you to give any random thoughts you have pertaining to the topic
here's my contribution: an intellectual is a person who has discovered something more interesting than sex.
OTS,
How can sex be mind-blowing if your partner isn't an intellectual?
Good point.
Funny, I took a "sexual energy" test yesterday and it predicted that I would have a total of nine sexual partners in my life...Do you still have the link to that test? I want to see what my number is, too.
Sure! http://test.thespark.com/sextest/
Of course, now you have to tell us your results!
tinkerbell,
I'd be more than happy to help you out with this dilemma of yours BradleyHow can sex be mind-blowing if your partner isn't an intellectualsadly enough, this has generally been my experience....great sex, but empty noggin...i need to work on my men choices :P

Carmel,
Am I correct in deducing that if you had to chose, you'd take mental masturbation over copius copulations?
Hmmmm....Yes. Again, if I had to choose between one or the other. I'd rather be Stephen Hawking than Larry Flynt. Call me wierd.

Actually, I agree with Huxley. I think that sex is great. I mean G-R-E-A-T . But, I also believe that a life of mind-blowing sex without any intellectual or emotional content would be a sorry one indeed. Actually, if I absolutely HAD to choose between a life of intellectual stimulation and no sex or sex and no i.s. I would have to choose the former. Fortunately, one does not need to make such an all or nothing decision (whew!).
Sex...ah, yes. I have to say this is one area in life where I have just nibbled a little bit. Funny, I took a "sexual energy" test yesterday and it predicted that I would have a total of nine sexual partners in my life, including the two I've already did the deed with. That leaves seven to go. Hmmm...I can think of at least two from this site that I wouldn't mind filling my quota (you know who you are ).

dr pawlowski from wroclaw university, poland, has found that the perfect height ratio to find your ideal partner.
aparently the man should be 1.09x taller than the woman.
this would give my ideal partner height at 5ft, which more than half of my girlfriends have been!!!.
I'm six feet long.....er....tall. *
Bradley
*Rounded to nearest foot...I'm actually 5'11"
my 10 year old just came back from the park at the end of our crescent.
she said there were people doing a puppet show for kids.
she said they were giving out books about "family fun days" and wanted to get a book.
Somewhat off topic....
Would you believe than on another ex-JW forum one of the moderators is a Mormon? He never even had anything to do with the JWs. Weird.
Oh well. The Mormons are not as bad as the dubs (imho), but are a cult nonetheless. Keep your kids away from them.

now, you might be wondering why a 26 year old guy like me would start a thread about experiencing a dilemma with having children later in life.
sure, i know i'm still relatively young and, for all i know, could have a kid before i'm thirty (i currently have no children.....that i know of anyway want to have children -- for a long time!
just last year i got out of the jws.
Thanks to all for your wise counsel (especially Sheila, Cruzan, Teejay....all the parents). I guess there is no "one way" to this issue.
Tinkerbell -- if ever you decide not to have a child but still enjoy the process of making one, please let me know. You too OTS. hehehehe
