Question on old earth creationism...
by logansrun inis it just me, or are all old earth creationists (besides jws) also of the opinion that the noachian flood was local?
my reason for saying this is that the jws pat themselves on the back for being old earthers (oh yeah, their not creaionists!
lol) but then use patently young earth creationist flood models.

Okay...just why is the "ransom" so gr...
by logansrun inreading the march 2003 okm brought up a question i've had for a long time....why do christians feel the the death of jesus was this unbelievably loving act by both god and christ?
i mean, god knew his son would be faithful to death (because of prophecy...not much of a test on j.c.
eh?

Deprogramming your "Last Days" phobia...
by logansrun inraised in a religion that preached a massive, theocratic holocaust for the majority of mankind can leave you with more than a few mental and emotional scars.
i remember being terrified on new years eve in 1986 (i was 9 yrs old) because of all the talk that that year was the "international year of peace.
" i was conditioned to look at world events as being a sign that the end is near, sound familiar?

Karl Klein's life experience......WTF?
by logansrun infrom the oct. 1, 1984 watchtower page 28:.
"it may be added that i am thankful to jehovah that when i was spiritually weak the opportunity for yielding to temptation did not lie close at hand and that when it did i was spiritually strong enough not to yield.
in other words, the inclination toward wrongdoing and the opportunity for it never coincided, for jehovah knew that at heart i really wanted to keep doing the right thing.

Are ALL criticisms of the Society justified?
by logansrun inlet me start by saying that i deplore much of the teachings of the watchtower and am convinced that it is not "the truth.
" either through ignorance, error or deliberate action they have caused great heartache for thousands and unknown heartache for millions.
i have thoroughly disconnected myself from their teachings and would rightly speak out against what i know to be harmful in that organization.

Okay...what does a "walk away" do abo...
by logansrun inrelated to my thread about talking to jw family members who refuse to shun you lol..... i'm a "walk away", no judicial action taken against me.
as it stands, i would like to keep it that way to be able to have a cordial relationship with some family (and perhaps a couple friends).
so here's a problem: at my former kh there sits in a drawer a document that could really screw me if i am in a life threatening situation.

What to do when your family DOESN'T shun you...
by logansrun inall right, i'm not dfd or dad; i just "walked away.
" all my friends, save one, completely ignore me and basically shun me (the word on the street is i'm an apostate :) ).
but my family, all hard-core jws except my more liberal mother, is causing some unsettling feelings.

Logansrun.....has arrived
by logansrun ini just thought i would post a little about myself here, even though some of you might know me from the "beyond jehovah's witnesses" forum.
my name is bradley and i live in a suburb of chicago illinois.
i'm currently twenty six years old and left the jws about nine months ago after a year and a half of intense doubts, many hundreds of hours of research, cognitive dissonance and bouts of vomitting (stressful, eh?).

i left about 9 months ago...not born-again christian....student...26...very happy with my life of science and philosophy...not bitter about the jws (though they are a funny group, aren't they?).
